We're on a race track toward destruction. "But it's fun!" Jevon's paradox? Seems a lack of sufficient discipline and awareness for this particular moment in our history. What other energy hogging technology can we create? Let's go!

Independent farmers implementing historic indigenous techniques demonstrate how changing agricultural practises could potentially save the world

We need to connect with one another, look each other in the eye ,hang out in public places together, walk, smell flowers, hear the birds. Opportunities like this are essential in crowded cities for our health.
Each summer, some of Montréal’s busiest roads close to car traffic and transform into pedestrianized centres! 👟
Here is where to find car-free streets this summer!

Belgium has seen big growth in urban biking in recent years. According to a new survey, 39% of Belgian commuters used a bike or scooter in 2023, a 6% increase in just 2 years.
I was proud to work with Belgian state & city leaders back in 2019 (see thread)

The math shows that there are dozens of regenerative solutions that cost far less than degenerative bad habits. Don't listen to people who say it's too expensive to live ethically or healthy. They just don't know any better. #regenerativeliving#designforlife
The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility.
Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it.

There are so many advantages to this approach, hard to list them all. Use your community connections to do this, or find people who have them, and do it with them. #regenerativesolutions
Very tired of hearing about what the intentions are. If a system constantly produces a different outcome than the one it is "intended" for then it's perfectly reasonable to assume the actual intention is the outcome it continues to produce.
Old growth trees should be treated as the national treasures that they are. They are some of the most valuable resources a nation has - and they lose tremendous value when cut down that may never be replaced. They create rain, build soil, support us and all life in so many ways.
Even a small patch of bee-friendly flowers can help ensure bumblebees can survive. Plant them and enjoy the beauty! Bumbles love our African basil, asters/sunflowers, squash blossoms and more.
A bumblebee can only fly for about 40 minutes between feeding. But we've lost 97% of our wiłdflower meadows. So each nectar-rich flower you plant in a windowbox or in your garden or community green spaces could be the pit stop that saves a bee 🐝
Hazelwood can be cut from the same plant every 5+ years for over 100 years. The plant lives longer when it is coppiced! The wood has many uses, plus there are valuable nut harvests. Hazelnuts have been used in "fedges" (food hedges) for 100s of years in UK. #naturalsolutions
A little hazel hurdle woven in situ with some lovely Norfolk flint to set it off. Rising from 4’ to 6’ on a gentle curve to help protect the garden from some serious sea breezes.
All hand split and hazel from a new block so clean and straight. Nice way to start the New Year.
Permaculture has multiple elegant solutions to the overuse of water. Most of these come from or are informed by brilliant indigenous designs. #waterislife#indigenouswisdom#holisticsolutions
In the last 100 yrs, California's Central Valley has overdrawn the aquifer (extracted more water than has been replenished with rain or snow) by more than 122 million acre-feet, or 45 trillion gallons
As much as 80% of this water goes to agriculture
