@agile_phil If this is to stop folk 'gaming the system' to get cheap slots for their home, why not just limit the cheap energy for the house to the overnight period? Let the chargers carry on doing their smart thing of timing and throttling to benefit the grid. Add a 42kWh limit if you must.

@RevRichardColes The eco cycle is more about water saving for both dishwashers and washing machines. I was interested because I noticed they took AGES. So, I monitored, using the smart meter. Quick wash on the dishwasher used less electricity, as did mixed wash on the clothes. Both clean well.

@RevRichardColes We saw a moderately famous stand-up in Aberdeen, who seemed mightily put out that the audience was so international, and all her poorly researched 'well you lot from the far North must be a load of old racist barbarians then!' jokes fell flat.
