@Da_Mem_Mays@WriteDrawAct @DrRachaelF @PopCultureDepot if things are/become a legitimate concern for the safety of others, that’s when you involve law enforcement. There’s no case where a teacher is better off looking through a kid’s phone than a parent or police. None
@Da_Mem_Mays@WriteDrawAct @DrRachaelF @PopCultureDepot that’s why in the tweet that was meant to be a follow up to the one this is replying to i also mention parents. If it’s cyberbullying or whatever else that doesn’t need law enforcement, don’t involve them. Notify the parents and let them handle it accordingly
@Da_Mem_Mays@WriteDrawAct @DrRachaelF @PopCultureDepot because i said the legal system does a great job. I said i’d rather not give more authority to teachers and just let cops or parents take care of things, depending on how extreme or concerning they are
@Da_Mem_Mays@WriteDrawAct @DrRachaelF @PopCultureDepot the legal system handle it how they handle it already or have a parent go through a kids phone, not start giving this ability to teachers. Creates even more careless and unqualified mediators.
@Da_Mem_Mays@WriteDrawAct @DrRachaelF @PopCultureDepot i’m not saying to give them more authority peabrain. They already have means to go through people’s phones and belongings. i’m saying i don’t want MORE unjust authority to be given to people, like these teachers. i’d much rather stick to having
@Da_Mem_Mays@WriteDrawAct @DrRachaelF @PopCultureDepot - doesn’t conflict with what i just said. Just because cops are incompetent doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have more authoritative power in a conflict than teachers. goofy
@AveryIsaac7 @kellymclean74 @DrRachaelF convenience isn’t a good enough reason for a smartphone? that’s the whole point of a phone in the first place goofy. What, does your phone keep your heart beating? It is a good enough reason, because it’s the only reason anyone has one
@AveryIsaac7 @kellymclean74 @DrRachaelF like as if people under 18 can’t have their life greatly convinced by a smartphone. Any argument against someone under 18 to not have a smartphone could be used against anyone over 18. No one NEEDS one, but it’s stupid to not have one
@Hibblebee@dan_rouleau @DrRachaelF you don’t need to look at the phone to do that??? yeah, contact administration. contact their counselor. Their parents will eventually get involved. They will handle it from their. School staff should not have the authority to search a phone without parental consultation.
@ivettevzla @DrRachaelF you clearly are way too old to have any idea how modern kids conduct themselves in school. everyone has a phone and pretty much no one uses it during class hours
@WriteDrawAct @DrRachaelF @PopCultureDepot school officials shouldn’t be given the authority but law enforcement should get involved for those scenarios, duh
