@Toasty173782 @rationalyankee Because George didn't love tradition as much as his legacy indicates he did. He wanted a modern looking stadium (which Old Yankee Stadium became in the 70s). He also championed them getting a mascot. The renovated stadium was a dump by 08. You're right, OGYS may have made it.

@rationalyankee Agreed it's too early to lose hope but it's reasonable to be skeptical. Offense has mostly been built around Judge putting up the greatest slash line since WW2. If he's just really good, the team numbers drop significantly.

@rationalyankee Pitching in a simulated game is not the same as a real one. And saying Freeman hadn't hit a home run on a pitch in that spot is playing semantics. Lower inside part of the strike zone is his hot zone. He doesn't get many pitches there for a reason.

@DTereman It's easier in the sense that you can be judged positively before you win games (as Joe Douglas was for years). But ultimately if you don't win, you're judged just as harshly (as Joe Douglas eventually was).

@realboshek I'd include Rizzuto but remove Bernie. Agree it should be reserved exclusively for HOF players and Captains. Elston Howard gets in for other reasons. No reason Paul O'Neill and Billy Martin can't have a plaque in Monument Park without retiring their number.
