@JasmineK0214 For me establish int the class culture and expectations are so vital to everyone's success in the classroom I spend a good deal of time on it at the beginning of the year. #4wf8333 students appreciate this approach as well
@HanftMeredith The idea of a cogen w/ the 4 students is something I definitely plan on implementing... Just to get honest feedback on how I can make their learning exp. better! #4wf8333
@kyliefronzak Not something that I have thought about in the past but if I see a student wearing a new pair of shoes or new haircut I try to mention it. Tends to brighten their day immediately bc it's important to them! #4wf8333
I’ve been around thousands of students in my 25 years of education. Some kids have more money than others, and some have had different life experiences than others. But they also have a lot in common: Every kid wants to be respected, to feel connected, and to be successful.
@GsuStu23@JasmineK0214 It really is about knowing your students. I like how Emdin refers to students being the teacher/expert and the teacher being the learner on what the best approach is!
@moree_allie@DrCaslerFailing@seabelles2 I think @HanftSteven hit it on the head... There is a far greater connection to income levels that Emdin hasn't written about (yet). Many families that grow up poor/middle class deal with similar problems regardless of race #4wf8333
@JasmineK0214 I think it goes back to what was said earlier.. some students need tough love and will respond to that, others will need empathy and will respond better to that. Why engaging with your students often is important #4wf8333
@DrCaslerFailing@HanftSteven imo, each situation should be handled with unique care in regards to challenging/pushing students. Why creating a rapport with the student is so important #4wf8333
