Abiy Ahmed’s attempt to manufacture a national narrative around the so-called ‘historical sea access’ is a deliberate distraction tactic from the deepening political, economic and humanitarian crises his regime has helped create. His narrative, rooted in mythological lies and revisionism rather than reality, may serve as a tool for domestic propaganda, but it holds no weight in serious regional or international political discourse. The exploitation of delusional grievances to justify geopolitical ambitions not only undermines regional peace but also destabilizes an already fragile #Ethiopia.
