#OnThisDay in 1846 the Guardian's longest serving editor CP Scott was born. Scott became editor of the newspaper in 1872 and stayed in post for an incredible 57 years!

#OTD in 1970 the @guardian left its #Manchester office in Cross Street. It was the end of an era
– the building had been the paper's home since the 1860s.
