This was a huge step towards creating global awareness of regenerative farming, and one step closer to an increased global carbon credit supply. 🥬

End of Life Vehicle (ELV) Credits are another one of @dovuofficial's innovative sustainable offerings on their platform.

Individuals and Organizations can purchase them to offset their Carbon footprint. They provide a tangible way to demonstrate commitment to sustainability through responsible ELV recycling. ♻️

Enhancing market transparency and traceability, an ELV Credit represents the environmental impact of processing an End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) through a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSFs), which is authorised by the Government.

Each Credit is uniquely linked to an individual ELV backed by multiple traceability data points. This, in turn, enables consumers to see the direct sustainable environmental impact of their purchase.🥬

The carbon emission avoidance values vary depending on the specific ELVs characteristics and recycling outcomes.

‘Dovu have built their platform to be the infrastructure of digital green credits at scale’.

India has close to 20 million vehicles approaching their end of life, with only 0.1% of those vehicles finding their way to official scrapping channels. 🚗

Unofficial scrapping facilities contribute to environmental harm and health risks by releasing hazardous substances into the land and atmosphere. ⚠️

The re-sale of unfit car parts also endangers vehicle safety and reliability, increasing the risk on roads to public health.

With a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSFs), environmentally friendly scrapping is ensured, with correct disposal of harmful elements and waste management. 🚮

The Indian Government is promoting the establishment of RVSFs adhering to environmental standards. However, the costs of addressing compliance, managing ELV waste and handling hazardous materials and unfit components creates difficulties for businesses to compete in the market.

Meta Materials Circular Markets (MMCM) is addressing this issue by introducing carbon credits to the ELV market with their Sustainable End-of-Life Vehicle Scrapping Program supported by the Indian Government.

MMCM has been formed by two Indian giants (MTC Group and NeML) to accelerate the country’s race towards net zero with DOVU’s innovative technology at the foundation utilising the @hedera Guardian.

ELV Credits will create a new revenue stream for businesses, therefore making it financially viable to adhere to environmental standards and in turn encouraging sustainable practices within the ELV industry.

Minted on Dovu’s platform these credits offer a transparent registry that traces their journey from inception to retirement.

Congratulations to all the winners of the DLT Climate Hackathon! 🏆

The DLT Climate Hackathon is an event led by the DLT Science Foundation @DLT_Science in collaboration with the @HBAR_foundation Sustainable Impact Fund, who together form DLT Earth. They are also supported by @io_allcot, @env_blockchain and @swirldslabs.

The DLT Climate Hackathon empowers developers, researchers, and climate enthusiasts to explore and refine methods for tracking and mitigating climate change using distributed ledger technology (DLT).

The event saw 700 participants compete for a share of the significant $100,000 prize pool. 🤑

Participants were to create a working methodology that uses the @hedera Guardian to drive forward climate accountability and support the DLT Earth’s mission of Auditable, Discoverable, and Liquid sustainability/ESG assets.

The challenge began on January 17 and offered an initial three months of intensive programming and activities, with the deadline for project submission being April 8.

Throughout the period participants benefitted from weekly workshops and ongoing support to help with their project. 🤝

Some of the top prize winners methodologies focused on subjects such as:

• Validation of carbon sequestration and issuance of carbon credits 🥬

• Quantifying emission reductions for upgrading power plants to more efficient operations ⚡

• Incentivizing investment in plastic recycling initiatives ♻️

• Supply chain tracking to reduce food wastage 🚮

This shows just a few subjects that were focused on but highlights the broad spectrum of sustainability use cases able to be deployed on the Hedera Guardian to help combat climate change. 🌍

The event not only showcased remarkable talent but also resulted in the addition of 32 new methodologies to the Hedera Guardian.

DLT Earth was created to foster innovation and address climate change, with the DLT Climate Hackathon it without a doubt achieves its purpose.
