LEGENDS OF POLK’S PAST: Kailey Guethle, IF/P (Softball)

A standout at Bartow High School, Kailey Guethle would shine for Polk State as a two-way player over her two years with the Eagles. As a freshman in 2022, Guethle was named first-team All-Suncoast and a second-team All-FCSAA performer as Polk State nearly tripled its win total from the previous season.

At the plate, Guethle led the team with a .446 batting average, a .487 on-base percentage, and 31 RBIs. She finished second on the team with four home runs and 26 runs scored. As a pitcher, Guethle picked up a team-high seven wins while leading the Eagles in earned run average (2.47), appearances (34), innings pitched (133), complete games (9), and strikeouts (79).

Injuries derailed Guethle’s sophomore season in 2023, but she was still recognized as a second-team All-Suncoast Conference performer. Guethle hit .367 with 17 RBIs in 27 games. From the circle, she tied for the team lead in wins, finishing 6-5 with a team-best 1.83 ERA and four complete games.

9 MONTHS into the virus and there is still no comprehensive plan against covid. Yet it took 38 DAYS to confirm a new Supreme Court justice. Same sex marriage, abortions, the fight against climate change, access to affordable healthcare- all in jeopardy.
