Perhaps the authorities have forgotten that as per the Forest Right Act 2006, traditional forest dwellers are protected against forced displacements. Their rights include the grazing rights, access to water resources and access to forest products except timber.
The Indian state chose to demolish the seasonal huts of Kashmir’s pastoral people. The Gujjar Dhoka has for ages been a way of life, essential to the livelihood of herders.
What a cruel thing to do.

Perhaps @shrimoyee_n & @habeeliqbal could help us understand whether or not Gujjars and Bakarwals of Kashmir, whose pastoral homes are being destroyed, are protected under international law
Gujjar community is being evicted from their homes.
What are two major parties - @JKNC_ and @jkpdp, doing about this?
They are contesting DDC elections and fighting over seat sharing despite in alliance.
Reign of terror has been unleashed against poor Gujjar Bakerwals across J&K, the video is somewhere from Rajouri, how a Police wala doing non sense with poor lady she is being draged from her home & the utensils & other belongings being thrown out clearly can be seen in video.
Gujjars are being brutally evicted from their lands. Can those claiming to fight for 370 and 35A by contesting DDC elections spare some energy to fight for these Gujjars?
It has been reported that a senior national level BJP leader, through a local BJP functionary from Kashmir, wanted to meet @JKNC_ stalwart Jenab Mian Altaf sahib with some political proposal.
But strong willed Mian Altaf sahib flatly refused to meet him.
Allah bless Mian sahib.
@SayamRubia @_JavedCh Creamy layer concept isn't applicable in the case of SC AND ST communities. So question doesn't arise in case of Gujjars & Bakerwals of J&K
@WahidWahi6@basiitzargar Gujjars & jats r altogether different. Don't confuse & call them clan of jats. It's not about 60 years we r inhabitant of Kashmir since centuries. We came from central Asian region via Afghanistan and not from Haryana or Rajasthan.
A #Gujjar (nomad) marriage ceremony with the groom on horse and bride in the #palanquin in Pulwama district, on 20 June 2020. Despite exponential increase in automobiles, some #nomadic tribes continue to use horses and palanquins in #marriages. Nisar Ul Haq Allaie/ Rising Kashmir
It’s shocking to hear about a minor girl (13yrs old) who was rapped by accused (50 yrs Old) for 3 months. Such incidents are inhuman & unfortunate. Irrespective of religion & caste strict action should be taken against accused.
