Gum Moon AWRC hosted a 4-part AI workshop series for 25 community members, introducing tools like ChatGPT, Doubao, and CapCut. In a city shaped by tech, we believe vulnerable and marginalized communities deserve access, understanding, and opportunity too.
Happy Lunar New Year from all of us at Gum Moon! 🧧✨ To celebrate, we gifted Treasure Pots to families in our program. These pots symbolize wealth, health, and abundance. A heartfelt thank you to Karen Woo for sponsoring, and Far East Cafe for preparing the Treasure Pots. 🏮💛
Gum Moon AFSC (Richmond) joined the Lunar New Year Good Luck Parade & Night Market on 2/5/26 with 50 community members marching together! Our booth had Spin the Wheel, pinwheel crafts, games, basketball, bean toss, ring toss, Legos & bubbles. So joyful! 🏮🎉
🧧✨ We shared Chinese New Year with our community by giving away 120 grocery bags. ❤️ For marginalized families, a grocery bag can mean relief, dignity, and care. Huge thanks to Rotary Club volunteers and to Susan Chan (on behalf of Asm. Matt Haney) for joining us.
💛 AFSC Richmond kids joined SFPD’s “Heroes & Helpers” event—each child shopped with an officer at Target to pick a gift for themselves or someone they love, learning sharing + gratitude along the way. Parents said it brought a warm, joy-filled Holiday. 🎁✨
Personal & Public Safety Workshop at Gum Moon’s Asian Women’s Resource Center 💛 Practical tips to increase awareness & feel more prepared in daily life: commuting, errands, and caring for family. 📅 Tue 2/3/2026 | 10:30–11:30am 🎤 Mr. David Li (CYC SF)
Happy 2026! 🏮We’re stepping into the new year with so much gratitude for the joy and connection you create together. Not long ago, our Friendship Group brought Chinatown parents together in the most meaningful way: by making traditional savory TangYuan side by side. 🥣💛
Merry Christmas from Gum Moon 🎄❤️ Thanks for fueling our 2025 impact across SF. Tina: “Every child’s growth…” Clarissa: Gala + holiday luncheons + gift drive (Lions Club & CAAGE). Kathleen: Heart of the Richmond block parties. Heartfelt holidays from our team! ✨
Events help families feel connected & remind them of community support. 🎃 Gum Moon’s Richmond Halloween Trick-or-Treat brought together 70+ people (30+ kids!) along Clement St. Kids dressed up, families walked together, snacks + toy raffles, and Supervisor Connie Chan joined.
🎁 It’s the holiday 🎄 Donation helps essential programs for women and families, especially this year, as government grants were reduced ( in some cases cut entirely). Donations are tax-deductible. If you can ➡️ Go to https://t.co/apwGQLJxgr and click “Donate Now”. Thank you ❤️
In loving memory of our dear Doreen 💛 She brought so much fun to Gum Moon, with her goofy jokes, quirky sense of humor, and her sweet, good-hearted spirit. She was the perfect “Money God” for our 2024 Lunar New Year Celebration. She will be deeply missed by all of us.
Gum Moon’s Thanksgiving Family Celebration welcomed 50 families to Willie “Woo Woo” Wong Playground on 11/24, with games, balloon art, lunch & raffles for underserved families. Thank you Bill & Darlene Lock, SF DEC & Square and Circle Club volunteers!
Last week at Gum Moon, we were able to gift 110 goodie bags to our SF families who are pregnant or have at least one child, helping support families with young children during a time when the cost of living and instability weigh heavily on families. Thanks SF DEC for supporting.
Chinatown came alive for Halloween: costumes, treats, pumpkin patches! For our underserved community, days like this build support and sensory exploration so kids grow confident and well-adjusted. Thanks to every neighbor, volunteer, and SF DEC! 🎃🏮
New Volunteer Spotlight: Microsoft’s James Yeoh rallied colleagues to raise $2,500 + assemble Family Kits for Gum Moon. One champion can spark company-wide impact.

🥮🌕 Gum Moon hosted a snow skin mooncake workshop with Chef C. K. Jeong. 15 parents made beautiful mooncakes and brought them home to share. Culture builds community, belonging, and power. Thanks to SF Dept of Early Childhood.

One last thank-you from our Sep 20 Benefit Luncheon: Gum Moon Board of Directors, staff & volunteers, Bill Lee & Far East Café (a 1920 Chinatown landmark, one of the last banquet halls, stewarded since 1999) Your support powers a 157-year mission!
