Stood with the Bangladeshi Hindus protesting at Westminster today for an end to Bangladeshi Hindu persecution.

3 Hindu women in the frame, different geographies : Bangladeshi Hindu heritage, a Hindu whose family was brought from Bihar as indentured labour to Guyana in the 1830s and a Dogra Hindu from Jammu.

The Hindu and broader diaspora gathered in strength outside the Bangladeshi High Commission in London, standing up against the relentless persecution of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. The name of young Hindu man Dipu Das, lynched and burnt by Islamist mobs in Bangladesh, rang out in powerful chants as the crowd demanded justice.

#Bangladesh 🇧🇩: Amnesty International calls on the interim government of Bangladesh to ensure prompt, thorough, independent, and impartial investigations into the killing of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi, and the subsequent mob violence which led to the burning of the offices Prothom Alo and Daily Star and Chhayanaut, and the harassment of New Age editor, Nurul Kabir. Furthermore, we are alarmed by the lynching of Hindu garment worker Dipu Chandra Das following allegations of blasphemy.

Amnesty International condemns the mob violence which has resulted in injuries, destruction of property, and even death. The interim government must take immediate steps to hold perpetrators of acts of violence and killings accountable in a fair trial without recourse to the death penalty.
