Pleased to meet with Ms. Ingrid Macdonald, #UN Resident Coordinator in Albania, and to exchange views on #Albania’s strong and longstanding cooperation with the United Nations across a broad range of shared priorities.

I expressed my appreciation for the important role the UN #CountryTeam in advancing Albania’s reform and development agenda, including through the forthcoming UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, which is closely aligned with our EU #accession path.

Special focus is placed on our collaboration in key areas such as human capital development, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and youth empowerment, particularly in the context of Albania’s upcoming Voluntary National Review in July.

Albania remains firmly committed to multilateralism and to working closely with the United Nations system, contributing actively to global and regional efforts in support of peace, security, #sustainable development, and the protection of #humanrights.

At today’s Briefing on recalibrating the Resident Coordinator System Ambassador @suelajanina underlined the importance of the RC system as a central pillar of a more coherent and effective United Nations development system at country level.

In Albania 🇦🇱, the Resident Coordinator has played a key role in advancing partnerships and ensuring that @UN delivers as one.

We support a recalibration that moves beyond a one-size-fits-all approach and promotes a more flexible, efficient, and demand-driven system.

For nearly two decades, Albania has stood at the forefront of UN reform. As one of the original “Delivering as One” pilot countries, it helped shape a more coherent, agile, and country-driven model for development cooperation — one that continues to inspire change across the UN system.

Today, that leadership moves forward through the new United Nations–Albania Cooperation Framework, co-created with the Government and people of Albania. Focused, results-driven, and aligned with national priorities, it is designed to accelerate progress on the #SDGs and deliver tangible impact where it matters most.

This is what effective multilateralism looks like in action — partnership, innovation, and results.
