If you are worried about a future heart attack, don't look at cholesterol alone.
Here I discuss FIVE metrics that can help estimate your future risk of a FIRST or RECURRENT heart attack:
1. BLOOD PRESSURE
🔸High BP is one of the most important and modifiable causes of heart attack and stroke, and often has no symptoms.
🔸For most adults, aim for <130/80 mmHg, particularly if cardiovascular risk is high.
🔸Every adult should know their BP. If normal, check periodically; if elevated or on treatment, monitor more frequently as advised.
2. Apolipoprotein B (ApoB), the number many people don't know about
🔸LDL tells us how much cholesterol is carried in LDL particles.
🔸ApoB estimates the number of atherogenic particles capable of entering artery walls.
🔸It can be particularly useful in people with diabetes, high triglycerides, obesity/metabolic syndrome and known heart disease, even when LDL appears “normal”
🔸Lower is better, with the appropriate target depending on overall cardiovascular risk.
🔸Consider testing at least once, especially if you have metabolic risk factors or premature heart disease in the family.
3. Lipoprotein(a), the inherited cholesterol risk
🔸Lp(a) is largely determined by our genes. You can have a healthy lifestyle and a normal LDL and still have a high Lp(a).
🔴≥50 mg/dL (≥125 nmol/L) is considered a cardiovascular risk-enhancing level.
🔸The good news is that most adults need to check it only once in a lifetime, because levels are relatively stable.
🔸This is especially relevant in people with premature heart attacks or a strong family history.
4. Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), your average blood sugar over ~3 months
🔸Diabetes markedly increases the risk of heart attack.
🔸Even before diabetes develops, insulin resistance and prediabetes often travel with other cardiovascular risk factors.
🟢Normal: HbA1c <5.7%
🟠Prediabetes: 5.7–6.4%
🔴Diabetes: ≥6.5% (requires appropriate clinical confirmation)
🔸Adults with overweight/obesity, family history of diabetes or other risk factors should be screened regularly.
🔸For people with diabetes, the HbA1c goal should be individualized, there is no single number suitable for everyone.
5. CORONARY ARTERY CALCIUM (CAC) SCORE
🔸Blood tests estimate risk. A CAC scan looks for evidence of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries.
🔸A score of 0 is reassuring, while higher scores generally indicate a greater burden of coronary atherosclerosis and future cardiovascular risk.
🔸This test is not for everyone. It is most useful when the decision about preventive treatment is uncertain; for example, in selected asymptomatic middle-aged adults at borderline or intermediate risk.
🔸Current guidance supports its selective use, including risk assessment in men ≥40 and women ≥45 years when appropriate.
The most important message:
🔸Don't wait for chest pain to assess your heart attack risk.
🔸Know your Blood pressure, ApoB/lipid profile, Lp(a), Blood sugar/HbA1c and CAC score, when appropriate
🔸And remember that a test doesn't prevent a heart attack; acting on an abnormal result does.
❌Don't smoke
✅Exercise regularly
✅Eat a heart-healthy diet
✅Sleep well
✅Take proven medicines when indicated
Prevention is far easier than recovering from your first heart attack.
Note: Test frequency and treatment targets should be individualised based on age, family history, diabetes, kidney disease and previous cardiovascular events, in consultation with a doctor.

Hyderabad today has a world class airport. The connectivity to the airport is simply incredible. I can reach the airport in less than 50 minutes from my home although the distance is 36 kms.
Timelines:
1999-2001
The site was selected in 1999 & by 2001 July 2000 acres of land was successfully acquired.
To accommodate a massive airport between 2002 & 2004 another 3500 acres of land was added.
In total the government acquired 5500 acres of land.
The foundation stone was laid on March 16th 2005 and the airport was inaugurated on March 23rd 2008. It took roughly 30+ months to complete the construction.
There were 2 visionary CM’s Andhra had during that period.
@ncbn Garu had a master plan & Late YSR Garu executed it.
Hope Hon @CMOTamilnadu does something like that.
Anirudh's Top 3 foods:
1. Andhra meals
2. Spicy Andhra meals
3. Very spicy Andhra meals
Andhra people are worst at marketing.
Literally restaurants in Bangalore and chennai runs on Andhra meals. But you can't find anyone openly speaking about it or market it.
Thinking of rooftop solar in Tamil Nadu?
#TVK govt. has announced a Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme for 2026–27, along with the Centre’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the budget. Details below👇
Central subsidy:
🔸Rs.30,000 for 1 kW,
🔸Rs.60,000 for 2 kW
🔸Rs.78,000 for 3 kW+
State subsidy:
🔸TN gives additional support of upto ₹1 lakh for domestic rooftop solar.
Capacity house may need:
🔸Up to 150 units/month → 1 kW
🔸Around 300 units/month → 2–3 kW
🔸Above 300 units/month → 3 kW+
A 3 kW system can generate roughly 360–400 units/month, depending on sunlight and other conditions.
Cost:
Installers quote around Rs.55,000–Rs.85,000 per kW before subsidy.
After subsidy, estimates spending at roughly:
🔸1 kW → Rs.30,000–Rs.40,000
🔸2 kW → Rs.60,000–Rs.80,000
🔸3 kW → Rs.65,000–Rs.1.20 lakh
🔸Payback period for your investment: 3-6 years
🔸25-year warranty/performance life.
Apartments can benefit too.
Solar can power lifts, pumps, common lighting, EV charging etc. Group/net-metering can also allow a common rooftop system to benefit participating flats.
But there is an important lesson from #Kerala.
🔸Solar generation peaks during the day, while households again depend on the grid at night. 🔸Without enough battery storage, utilities may have excess cheap power during the day but still need costly electricity during evening peak hours.
🔸So Tamil Nadu’s rooftop-solar push should not stop with panels.
🔸Solar + Net Metering + Battery Storage + stronger grid infrastructure will be crucial.
For households, rooftop solar can be a good long-term investment. For Tamil Nadu, the bigger challenge will be managing and storing surplus daytime solar power.

The Great Andhra Heist: The Andhra Story Nobody Tells
[ Important Thread🧵. Please read in full ]
In 1971 census,Andhra had 14 Lakh christians.
In 2011 census, Andhra had only 6 Lakh Christians.
Where did the Christians disappear?
Vote-bank politics, foreign funds, conversion mafia, corruption and fraudulent reservation policies has created a mega fraud that threatens to consume Andhra today. Details below:
Andhra Pradesh is taking its investment pitch straight into Tamil Nadu’s backyard - with @AP_EDB roadshows in Chennai and Coimbatore targeting textiles, manufacturing and automobiles. The move signals a much more aggressive phase in the Andhra-Tamil Nadu contest for investment, with Andhra already drawing projects such as Hwaseung and @royalenfield

Keeping political arguments aside….
This is the real story …
An airport is a major project that requires extensive planning, clearances, court battles, utility development, and finally, construction and project completion.
Although TDP initially planned to acquire 15,000 acres, by January 2016 it had already reduced the requirement to 2,700 acres. Notices were issued for acquisition, but only about 1,500 acres were free from disputes, while the remaining land became tied up in court cases.
I believe those court cases were resolved in 2022/2023 bringing the total acquired land to around 2,150 acres.
YCP handled the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R), provided utilities, and started construction in November 2023.
As of June 2024, the overall project progress was around 35–40%, while the actual construction progress was about 10%.
TDP managed to complete the remaining 90% construction.

Amaravati India's First Fully Pole-Free Capital City.
Look up in any Indian city and you will see a tangle of wires, Electricity cables, telecom lines, iternet cords, strung across poles, draped over trees, cutting through the skyline.
Amaravati is refusing to accept that as normal.
India's first greenfield capital is going underground, rewriting the rules of what an Indian city can look like.
Every wire. Every cable. Every pipe.
Power lines. Optical fibre. Water. Gas. Sewage.
All of it beneath the surface.
Amaravati's common utility corridor system is eliminating poles entirely, delivering cleaner skylines, unobstructed roads, and infrastructure that can handle cyclones, storms, and the demands of the next century.
It is a model Singapore built. The Middle East embraced. And now Amaravati is bringing it to India.
And it is not just about aesthetics.
Every pole removed is a tree saved. Every underground cable is one less casualty in a cyclone. Every clean skyline is a city breathing better.
No poles cluttering the view. No wires sagging over roads. No disruption every time it rains.
Only clean streets. Open skies. And a city built as cities should have been built from the start.
Rayalaseema transformation in to industrial hotspot.
A region once synonymous with drought and economic stagnation is steadily emerging as a manufacturing powerhouse.
Lot of credit goes to Chandrababu Naidu's vision. Particularly his success in attracting Kia Motors, which became the catalyst and triggered a wave of industrial investments.
Today, the region hosts Kia Motors (Anantapur), JSW Steel (Kadapa), DRDO's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft integration & flight-testing facilities (Puttaparthi), Bharat Forge's defence energetics plant (Madakasira), HFCL's ammunition manufacturing unit (Anantapur), Royal Enfield (near Tirupati), Dalmia Bharat and Zuari cement plants, ultra-mega solar parks in Kadapa , and the proposed Space City near Sriharikota. via @Thehindu
BJP has transformed Indian politics in last decade. I can't even imagine teaching politics to the likes of Modi-Shah. I could be completely wrong because they obviously know far more than i do but this is how it looks from the outside.
1. The biggest battlefield is no longer parliament. It is the algorithm.
Our national threat comes from Social Media. Unfortunately, we have not been able to understand it, let alone solve the problem. Any voice that is anti-India is amplified by the algorithms that are controlled somewhere else. It has been proven time and again how dangerous it can be. Just open reddit and see the pages of any city, be it r/Delhi, r/gurgaon or r/India. Moderators of lot of such pages are from enemy nations. They push and amplify the content that creates discontent. Any rational voice is suppressed.
Your social media startegy is knee jerk, to put it politely. One fine day, all the Sarkari machinary starts promoting 'Koo' as an alternative to Twitter, on other day they promote "Arratai' as an alternative to whatsapp. Then nothing ever comes out of it.
For those wishing to begin reading Krishnamurti, the following five books are recommended:
1) Think on These Things
2) Freedom from the Known
3) Education and the Significance of Life
4) Krishnamurti's Journal
5) The First and Last Freedom
These books are available in English and major Indian languages at https://t.co/Pmmr5TruVw. They are also available on Amazon India.
1. Think on These Things
Chosen by Parabola magazine as one of the "100 Best Spiritual Books of the Century," Think on These Things is an excellent introduction to Krishnamurti's teachings for readers of all ages. Consisting of his talks and discussions with students, teachers, and parents in India, it explores many of the perennial questions of life.
2. Freedom from the Known
Regarded as one of the best introductions to Krishnamurti's teachings, Freedom from the Known is a step-by-step exploration of the human condition and an invitation to understand oneself deeply. It was Krishnamurti himself who asked his lifelong friend and biographer, Mary Lutyens, to compile this book, and he even suggested its title.
3. Education and the Significance of Life
First published in 1953, Education and the Significance of Life was Krishnamurti's first book. Through eight insightful chapters, it explores subjects as diverse as education, intelligence, authority, world peace, relationship, marriage, art, and the deeper significance of life.
4. Krishnamurti's Journal
In September 1973, Krishnamurti began keeping a journal. Nearly every entry opens with a vivid description of nature, which serves as the backdrop for his reflections on the human condition and humanity's search for the timeless. The Journal reveals the profound connection between his teachings and his deep sensitivity to nature.
5. The First and Last Freedom
One of Krishnamurti's most widely read books, The First and Last Freedom falls into two parts: Krishnamurti's reflections on life, and his answers to questions from audiences. It covers a wide range of themes—from boredom and gossip to self-knowledge and God—making it an excellent introduction to his teachings.
The above five books provide different points of entry into Krishnamurti's teachings.
There is a deeply disturbing financial sickness spreading among Gen Z right now.
At 23, they don’t want to build an empire. They just want to retire.
I ask many to learn a high income skill, start a small cash flow business or take a career risk and they have zero interest. They are completely exhausted by the idea of actual work.
But ask them about their monthly SIP, their crypto portfolio, and their passive income strategy, and they will talk for hours.
A massive salute to the Indian Mutual Fund industry. You have executed the greatest marketing campaign in history.
You successfully sold an entire generation the Dal Roti dream. You convinced ambitious 22 year olds that the ultimate goal of human existence is to scrape together a ₹3 to ₹5 Crore portfolio by 40, quit the rat race and exist off dividends while doing absolutely nothing.
You cannot compound peanuts. Passive income is what you build after you have maximized your active income. But this generation is trying to skip the active income phase entirely.
They are obsessing over squeezing a 15% CAGR out of a ₹40,000 salary instead of figuring out how to build a skill or a business that generates ₹4,00,000 a month.
You cannot passive income your way out of a low value skill set.
You cannot SIP your way to true wealth if your primary engine your active income is stagnant.
Stop trying to retire before you have even built anything.
Strong suggestion:
Do watch Nadal's documentary on Netflix. Suffering is necessary in order to achieve big things in life. Nothing comes easily.
Human brain is wired to seek comfort, but the real development happens in solitude and ability to put in the reps again & again.
Follow the DCP framework to achieve your goals
Discipline
Consistency
Patience
DMart's latest move says a lot about where Indian retail is headed.
While the market is obsessed with 10-minute deliveries, DMart has quietly done something very different.
It scaled back DMart Ready from 18 cities to 11, choosing to exit 7 smaller markets instead of chasing growth at any cost.
Yet in the same quarter:
Revenue grew 15.1% to ₹18,343 crore
Net profit rose 12.8% to ₹936 crore
EBITDA margin improved to 8.3%
Store count increased to 503
The message is simple:
Growth is optional. Profitable growth is not.
Every business doesn't have to win every trend.
Quick commerce has undoubtedly changed consumer behaviour, but it has also made the industry fiercely competitive. Sometimes, the smartest strategy is to focus on markets where your economics work rather than expanding everywhere.
As investors, it's worth remembering:
A company that is willing to walk away from low-return opportunities often creates more long-term value than one chasing market share at any cost.
In investing, discipline usually looks boring in the short term but it is often what compounds wealth over the long term.
Would you rather own the fastest-growing company or the one with the most sustainable profits?
