i first met Anis Mihrshahi at an Equinox event. when he told me about GutGutGoose (YC S26), i honestly had no idea what it was or why personalized probiotics mattered. i thought probiotics were simple: your stomach hurts, you buy a bottle, and hopefully it helps

but every human microbiome is different. giving everyone the same bacteria, in the same amount, is a little like giving everyone the same pair of glasses and expecting all of us to see clearly. GutGutGoose is trying to change that by analyzing each person’s microbiome and finding bacterial strains that are more likely to work for their specific body

the more i learned about it, the more obvious the problem became. our gut affects so much of our lives, yet most of us only begin paying attention to it once something already feels wrong. health is often invisible when we have it. we only understand how much freedom it gives us when that freedom begins to disappear

many of us live to eat, and many of us eat to live. either way, so much of life begins in the gut, and i hope we can all take care of it

i hope what they are building will help more people keep enjoying the parts of life they normally never have to think about
