This summer, the MBTA announced a 42-day shutdown of Green Line service to Union Square to accommodate Rt. 28 bridge repairs; I responded by organizing an effort to call upon the Healey-Driscoll Administration to send the project back to the drawing board with a better plan for our community. Today, I’m pleased to report that MassDOT has revised the project sequencing plan to limit the Union Square Green Line shutdown to just 25 days. This is a big improvement, and yet I will continue advocating for all necessary mitigation and communication efforts during this inconvenience, especially for the Fluff Festival on Sept. 23 and for all necessary bus service to Lechmere and East Somerville stations, and for extra BlueBike availability.
