@AlBernstein Jimmy was my amateur boxing coach ( that’s him in my profile pic). He was a very humble guy and I didn’t realize then all the great fighters that he fought. I love seeing these clips of his fights.
@MonteroOnBoxing Greg Page exposed that Mike was not invincible while sparring and you are exactly right about Buster Douglas- he came in with a plan that broke Mike down.
@LinealBoxChamp This is a great example of why Joe is one of my favorite fighters. Mathis was a much bigger fighter but Joe was the aggressor the whole fight. He would just keep coming at you and wear you out.
World Heavyweight Champions Smokin’ Joe Joe Frazier (NYSAC) and WBA holder Jimmy Ellis ham it up after Smoke’s win over Jerry Quarry in 1969. All here in Hi-DEF https://t.co/rvoWRPp4gg
@AdamsBoxingShow@itsjules007 Tyson wasn’t overrated. Holyfield was just a great boxer with an iron jaw. Holyfield is one of the few heavyweights that could throw heavy 6 punch combos and stay in position and not off balance- hard to do on a bag - super hard to do in a fight.
Jimmy Ellis and Joe Frazier rumble at Madison Square Garden in 1970, the final showdown to decide the true successor to exiled world champ Muhammad Ali. Smokin' Joe won after he floored Ellis twice and the bout was stopped after round four. #Heavyweight#History#Boxing
