The LELS Board of Directors and Staff extend our deepest condolences on the loss of Minnesota State Patrol Lieutenant Tyler Uthe. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, fellow troopers, and all affected by this tragedy. Rest easy, Lieutenant. ๐๐ค
You know that saying about "planets are in alignment..." today is one of those days that is almost too melancholy and heavy for a heart to hold. We lost our beloved mother at the young age of 59. We lost our hero, confidant & protector on this day 15 years ago. The emotions of today are only contained by the ache holding our hearts prisoner.
I have often taught my religion students this fact. The 4th Commandment that God gave to Moses, was to Honor thy Father & Mother. And as our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ was dying on the cross, one of his final acts was to make sure that his Mother was taken care of by the apostle John. Even as he was dying, with his last breath, he obeyed God's laws.
So if our Lord could do that in that excruciating moment, it shouldn't be too hard for us to do the same while we live. Honor our Mother & Father both while alive & after they die. We pray for their souls, honor their memory, respect the lives they lived & the sacrifice they made for us each day. And most importantly give thanks to our Father in heaven for gifting us with the loving parents he did.
I know without a shadow of a doubt, informed by my faith, that there will be such joy when we are all together again, but for now, the sorrow in our hearts is real but we will refocus our grief to do our best to Honor them everyday as God has commanded.
We love you always - it's not the same without either of you - not even close. Thank you for loving us & being our Mom & Dad.
BREAKING: The Minnesota Senate passed a major gun control bill that would ban federally licensed firearms dealers in Minnesota from selling many different kinds of firearms including the AR-15.
The bill would also force Minnesotans to register their AR-15s and other "semiautomatic military-style assault weapons" with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).
The vote was 34-33. Democrats have a one-vote majority in the Senate. Sen. Grant Hauschild, a key swing vote, voted for the bill.
