This is the kind of adoption I'm here for, as it will yield to real, tangible activity happening on IOTA.
After over 2 years of development, 1 year of public testnet release and security reviews, and large scale ecosystem development together with our community to build up an entire ecosystem, we are today finally unleashing #IOTA's next chapter ๐
IOTA is now officially EVM compatible ๐
We are launching it with an entire ecosystem, dozens of #DeFi dApps, infrastructure, bridges, wallets and other integrations. Many dApps from other ecosystems are moving over, and new tokens will launch. We are at the start of something truly exciting with IOTA.
No matter what you think of IOTA, one thing is clear that we will never stop building. We have been in this market since 2015, and will continue to be here to realize the full potential of Blockchain.
We are here to bring the real world to Web3.

I'm also gonna try and bridge the gap with other crypto communities, and get in touch with leaders from other chains, to build some good will and connections with the broader ecosystem.
I think it's necessary to engage and be interested in what others are doing, in order for us to break out of our bubble and be known again.

We just had a discussion about this very topic last monday in the german meetup, where somebody asked if our envisioned solution to MEV will really be such a unique selling point in the DLT space as others are implementing intent based architectures that might eventually turn out to be "good enough".
I was arguing that despite being praised as the ultimate solution to MEV, intents alone do not really solve the underlying "principal-agent" problem because there are still "agents" (the searchers / match makers) that need to perform work and that need to be payed and economically aligned.
It not only leads to a more complex and fragmented ecosystem where the settlement often happens off chain and compose-ability is broken, but competition between searchers also kills their alpha (they need to underbid each other), ultimately leading to a centralization around the actors with access to the most efficient compute (some form of oligarchy) or "lazy actors" that won't do anything if the user is not willing to pay at least a minimal premium.
The best way to imagine the dynamics of these systems is to extrapolate them to the real world.
Imagine there would be a shop where you could buy anything through some intent based system - not a normal shop but a "service provider" that claims to always find and provide you with the cheapest products in the world.
You would walk into the shop and state the fact that you want to buy bread. Then 1000 employees would compete against each other to fly around the world and find the cheapest bakery on this planet to be able to offer you a price with you picking the cheapest offer.
Just ask yourself: Would anybody build or participate in such a system in the real world? Would it be economically rational to make 1000 people perform exactly the same work, just to serve a single customer?
I think the answer is obvious and the consequences are beautifully formalized in the linked paper!
Searchers need to be economically rational and have to offer you a price that not only reimburses them for their efforts but that also takes into account that they will not always win the competition (ultimately leading to you having to "pay all searchers" - because sometimes the guy that won the last competition also looses which has to be accounted for in his offer).
This means that the price you will receive is very far from an "optimal settlement" and the larger the competition, the larger the premium has to be.
It really is a loose-loose situation where the customer receives a bad price while the match maker is equally penalized by only receiving a very limited reward (due to the fierce competition).
The only way to fundamentally solve MEV and the principal-agent problem is to get rid of "agents" in the entire stack.
I am really looking forward to propose a solution to this problem in my upcoming blog post that explains how we can leverage the fact that our DLT is based on a CRDT (conflict free replicated data type) to provide a very simple and elegant offer to this problem that is generic enough to serve all conceivable use cases (with potentially very different match making strategies).
In my opinion, this is really the billion dollar question and the only place where DLT's have the potential to revolutionize the way humans interact on this planet.
TL;DR: Without getting rid of the agents, it's "MacKenzie towers" all the way down!
PS: The "public release" (some people already read a very early version) of the named blog post will still take some time as we are still very busy with finalizing the node software (which currently has a higher priority) but I am really looking forward to hopefully soon find the time to finalize the text and discuss these ideas publicly ๐ฅฐ
