A new study finds a loss in bone density 1 year following bariatric surgery in teens.
Surprise! Being restricted of enough food-even when fat -will lead to bone loss & malnourishment.
The AAP needs to be discouraging these surgeries for kids, not recommending it as a tool! 💔
@basslust1 @adamfare1996@simonfell The real issue here is that the government is assuming that “obese” people can only be healthy if they lose weight, which is completely inaccurate. Therefore, they are increasing weight stigma. Weight stigma is correlated highly with increased poor health outcomes.
@basslust1 @adamfare1996@simonfell What’s important and truly makes an impact is health promoting behaviors and access to health. Research studies show that when people have access to health care, eat variety and balance (ie intuitive eating), engage in joyful movement, have proper hygiene, get adequate sleep

THIS. I have found it extremely difficult and stressful trying to find therapists and psychiatrists available, in-network with insurance, or affordable out of pocket. So often people avoid therapy and psychiatric care due to cost. This is not okay. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
@adamfare1996 I struggle quite a bit with the impulsive SI thoughts and other impulsive thoughts and decisions. I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder a few years ago and it makes so much sense as to why I struggle to regulate emotions.
I spoke up at my therapist’s office about how the new waiting room design does not have size-inclusive seating and could make people in larger bodies feel ashamed, hurt, unimportant, etc. They said they didn’t ever think about this and will talk to the owner about making changes!
