HANDSS group is an Aberdeen city & shire social club for children with additional support needs. It is run by parent/carer volunteers & siblings are included.

A huge shout out to Aline, Wendy, Kayla, Chloe & Donna who gave up their spare time to prepare an extraordinary end of term session for HANDSS. With an animal theme there were 12 activities to chose from and the evening was finished up with eating freshly made crepe!

Sonia & Laraib, volunteers at HANDSS, were delighted to receive their Saltire Challenge Certicates which were presented to the girls by visiting storyteller Pauline Cordiner. They earned this award for providing support to two teams from HANDSS at the Aberdeen 2022 FunOlympics.

Thank you @PaulineCStories for a splendid story tonight about an Armenian woman (a total hero who is a teacher and a weaver) who refuses to marry a prince unless he "gets a real job" - he becomes a weaver and that ends up saving his life. We finished with a wee bit of weaving.

At HANDSS tonight we got into the spirit of World Book Day. We completed literacy challenges, won book prizes & our 2 fabulous volunteers, dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood & Wednesday Adam’s. Wednesday won a watering can for the best costume, nominated by kids @ HANDSS.

HANDSS group had an awesome time at the HMT panto. We are so proud of Jack, Erin & Meghan who all did us so proud on stage when they were invited to teach the audience the panto song. They were just unbelievably good, so blown away by their confidence and talent. @APAWhatsOn

You can take part using the downloadable map but if you would like a physical elf hunt pack which includes map, Santa letter & certificate then packs can be collected today, Sunday, up to 13:00 or Friday 23rd up until 13:00 then that’s a wrap for Christmas.

Excited to welcome 6 delightful dogs @TherapetC @CanineConcern to HANDSS this week. From afar they came with their humans to spend two hours with us. Anxious children were less anxious afterwards & we benefited from the calming nature of these “adorable, friendly, woof woofs”!
