RIP Harvey 💔 Just a few weeks ago, we shared Harvey's story and asked the grassroots football community to help us make his final days a little brighter by sending birthday cards filled with messages of love, support and encouragement.
What happened next was truly remarkable.
Cards arrived from teams, players, coaches, clubs and families from across the country. Hundreds of messages were sent to a young man who captured the hearts of an entire football community. The kindness shown to Harvey and his family was overwhelming, and we know how much those messages meant to him.
Today, as we remember Harvey, our thoughts are with his mum Tara, his family, his friends, his teammates and everyone at Woolavington FC.
In the words of his mum, "the final whistle blew for our brave boy" today. Harvey faced the toughest battle imaginable with incredible courage, determination and heart. Football was his passion, and he approached life in exactly the same way he loved the game – with spirit, bravery and a smile.
While his battle is over, the impact he made will never be forgotten. His story united people from every corner of grassroots football and reminded us all what this community is truly about: compassion, kindness and standing together when it matters most.
To everyone who took the time to send a card, write a message, share the post or keep Harvey in your thoughts – thank you. You helped show a young footballer just how loved he was.
Rest easy, Harvey. Your shirt may be retired, but your memory will never leave the pitch. ❤️⚽
