There’s something a bit depressing about the Commons reaction to this. Would MPs have snickered and scoffed about the economic contribution of the pub sector? But it seems that the beauty industry (by some figures worth more than the motor industry) is the object of mockery.

The ‘shellac’ your ‘expert’ is referring too is infact an industrial glaze made from the resin of lac bugs.
This is NOT affiliated with CND shellac AT ALL (or any gel polish for that matter)
