Head & Neck #Oncology Team organised #Cancer Survivorship Program earlier this month @ CMC Vellore Ranipet Campus.
#Healtheducation sessions and clinical assessments conducted for #patients; medical lectures and workshops for #students and faculty.
Program also hosted pre-beta launch of 'Bandhu Care' #app developed in collaboration with #linguistic team from @iiit_hyderabad; app is designed to help patients fulfill tasks and receive support with queries in multiple languages including Marathi, Tamil, English, Hindi, Assamese.
CMC Vellore & Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Pune (C-DAC Pune) have entered into an umbrella #MoU to foster joint #research projects, capacity-building, collaborative publications, and fundraising for research activities.

PRAGRAD, a new patient-driven treatment approach for very advanced oral cavity #cancers (which cannot be surgically removed) shows significant improvement in patient outcomes: prospective study by CMC #research team.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all plan, #patients are given the choice of #palliative care or aggressive chemoradiation, promoting shared decision-making and #PatientAutonomy.
It was found that when decision making was shared, more patients were willing to try aggressive chemoradiation; half the number who responded to initial #chemotherapy and continued aggressive treatment, survived over 30 months - 5 times longer than those choosing palliation (6 months). Nearly half survived beyond 2 years - a remarkable outcome for this advanced stage.

150 patients' data analyzed. Radiomics with clinical data, were used to build predictive models using Machine Learning. Clinical + T2W-MR model achieved the best prediction accuracy (AUC = 0.72). Further validation needed with a larger cohort.
Can MRI and CT Radiomics Predict Treatment Outcome in Rectal Cancer? Pre-treatment MRI with clinical features shows potential. Personalization strategies (e.g. aggressive Tx for high-risk, organ preservation for low-risk patients need accurate predictors. https://t.co/mOYtzFFaf6
