Our courageous teachers continue to work and make a profound difference. Last semester, our schools ranked second in the Artibonite area. Two of the teachers in Nan Gorvin had 100% pass rates.

Linda & Betty instruct rural teachers, creating opportunities for boys and girls who would never have this otherwise. Basic education can mean the difference between success and failure as they work in the marketplace.

In this remote area of Haiti, Linda & her sister, Betty, teach the teachers. Last semester, the cumulative pass rate was 89% – the highest in that area. Even with teachers who have less than or equal to a high school education, the impact is profound.

This information is from a report titled "Food Security, Displacement & Community Crisis" published in May 2026. Each number represents real people (families, farmers, children, church members) whose lives have been upended by overlapping crises.

❤️A prayer for displaced families❤️
Pray for the 1.4 million Haitians who have been forced from their homes — that they find safety, shelter, & community. Pray that families separated by violence be reunited, and that those living in displacement sites experience dignity & care.
The May newsletter is out!
The work of HCDP has never been more important – and stressed. Food insecurity affects up to 50% of people in the Artibonite Valley. Please donate to HCDP so we can help with refugee displacement & food supplies.

46 refugees from Dessalines have been staying in a previously empty farm dormitory. We are so thankful to those that help HCDP care for needy children & adults from different villages in Dessalines. Please donate if you can https://t.co/9NzIXlJ4Wz

Telling the story of Jesus to rural areas of Haiti is one of the important works of HCDP. Beyond schools & clinics, HCDP trains local evangelists, including men who preach Jesus on the radio. Their voices carry hope into villages no preacher can regularly reach.

In a country with little rain, an important part of the HCDP agricultural education is learning about water conservation. Here, Pacius works with the students preparing raised beds with drip irrigation lines installed.

Refugee children. As we continue both the steady work of development & the unexpected mercies that come to our door, we invite you to keep this ministry in your prayers & help us sustain the resources that make responses like this possible.

This week, 21 children & 5 of their parents arrived at our farm after fleeing gang violence in Dessalines. Caring for displaced children isn’t our primary mission, but because of your generosity, we were able to offer them a safe place to rest.

Kenson Charles, a graduate of the HCDP Vocational School, showed the product of his garden in Saint-Raphael. Cassava is the third-largest source of carbs in the tropics, after rice and maize; more than 500 million people depend on it.
