Members of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office were honored to welcome Uncle Gary and Adam as they stopped by with an incredible gift for our Merit Deputies, beautiful, handcrafted pens made by Uncle Gary himself.
These aren't just pens; they are works of art. Each one is thoughtfully crafted with remarkable skill, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship. Uncle Gary shared that he has made pens for members of the United States military and wanted to do something special for the men and women serving our Hamilton County community.
Words cannot fully express our gratitude for such a meaningful gesture. Your generosity, kindness, and support of law enforcement mean more than you know.
Most importantly, Uncle Gary, thank you for your service to our nation as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. The dedication and sacrifice of our veterans have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we are humbled by your continued commitment to serving others through acts of kindness like this.
From all of us at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, thank you, Uncle Gary and Adam. Your gift will be used daily, but your thoughtfulness and support will be remembered for much longer.
A big thank you to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Tyler Abbitt and Deputy Jon Carder for sharing K-9 partners Echo and Jaeger with the girls attending the annual Girl Scout Summer Badge Camp hosted by Girl Scout Troop 1887 at the Carmel Lions Club.
The girls were thrilled to meet Echo and Jaeger while working toward their Pets Badge, and Sgt. Abbitt and Deputy Carder did a fantastic job explaining the role of K-9 teams and patiently answering countless questions!

‼️Traffic Hazard‼️
Gray Rd. between SR 32 and the Midland Trace Trail is slowly being covered by this morning's rainfall. The County Highway Department has been requested to assist with a possible road closure.
Let us take this time and remember to always use caution while driving. When a road is covered by water, it is hard to tell just how deep the water may be. Sometimes taking the long route to your destination may be the better choice. Be careful and stay safe!
In observance of Memorial Day, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Administrative Office will be closed on Monday, May 25th, 2026.
We pause to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
On Friday, May 15, 2026, at approximately 12:44 a.m., the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Elwood Police Department with a pursuit involving a suspected intoxicated driver traveling southbound on S.R. 37 at speeds of nearly 120 mph.
HCSO Deputies and the Noblesville Police Department successfully deployed Stop Sticks two different times on S.R. 37, before a HCSO Deputy safely ended the pursuit with two P.I.T. maneuvers (Precision Immobilization Technique) on I-69 near the 204.5 mile marker, see the video. The suspect was taken into custody without injuries to the suspect, passenger, or Deputies and assisting agencies.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Kidnapping, Criminal Confinement, Auto Theft, OWI Endangerment, and other related offenses.
We are thankful for the teamwork between all responding agencies that helped bring this dangerous situation to a safe conclusion while protecting the public.
Any questions regarding this case should be directed to the Elwood Police Department and the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office.

This morning, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was honored to attend the Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast at the IMMI Conference Center in Westfield.
It was a meaningful time of fellowship, prayer, and reflection as community leaders, first responders, chaplains, and supporters came together in faith and unity. We are grateful for the continued support, encouragement, and prayers from our community and chaplaincy partners who serve alongside us each day.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible and to those who continue to support the men and women who serve Hamilton County.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to partner with students at Hamilton Heights High School to help raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. Students participated in an impaired driving simulation using vision-impairment goggles while operating golf carts, giving them a firsthand look at how alcohol can affect reaction time, judgment, and coordination. It was a important reminder that one bad decision can change lives forever. Thankful for the chance to educate and encourage students to always make safe choices behind the wheel. 🚗💙 #DontDrinkAndDrive #SafeChoices #CommunityPartnership
