Don't guess what people want to read.
Research it.
Search Amazon.
Read reviews.
Study competing books.
Look at recurring questions.
The market is constantly giving you ideas.
You just have to pay attention.
Don't sit around waiting for a “perfect” book idea.
Go where people are already asking questions.
Amazon reviews, Reddit discussions, YouTube comments, forums and search suggestions can reveal problems people actually want solved.
Book ideas are often in questions people ask.
Don't ask:
“Is this niche profitable?”
Rather Ask:
“Who is buying these books, what are they buying them for, and what could I offer them that is more specific?”
That's a much better way to research a KDP niche.
Here's a simple KDP rule I like:
Don't always look for a niche with zero competition.
Zero competition can mean zero demand.
Instead, look for existing demand + clear gaps.
That's where interesting publishing opportunities often appear.
A niche can look profitable and still be a bad niche for you.
Before jumping in, study the books already selling.
Look at their covers, titles, subtitles, reviews, pricing and positioning.
You're not copying them.
You're learning what the market is already telling you.
