“In times of war and in times of peace, the greatest weapons of all are not the arms you bear, but the arms you link.”
We will remember our heroes of the Far East, and all who sacrificed so much in the Second World War, today and every day.
Thank you, Yavar Abbas, for your kind words acknowledging His Majesty’s work to ensure their efforts are not forgotten.

"Apologies for briefly going off the script to salute my brave King, who is here with his beloved Queen in spite of the fact that he is undergoing treatment for cancer" ❤️
The King and Queen were visibly emotional as 105-year-old veteran Yavar Abbas went off script to praise The King for attending VJ Day tributes despite his cancer.
Mr Abbas said: "Before I accept, I make no apologies for briefly going off the script to salute my brave King who is here with his beloved Queen, in spite of the fact that he is under treatment for cancer - an ailing that I share with him."
"And if it provides any comfort, I've been rid for the past 25 years and counting. And I salute him for gracing this occasion, because by his presence here, he has gone a long way to make sure that his grandad's [King George VI] 14th Army is never given the sobriquet again The Forgotten Army."
