Lovely meeting prospective volunteers this evening. Small, significant steps towards reviving our work with new people and a new scheme: “Communities for Afghans”. Grateful to Abigail our @LambethCitizens organiser for coming to support.
We’re hosting a meeting for prospective volunteers and anyone else interested to learn more about #CommunitySponsorship “Families for Afghans” scheme tomorrow: 16 July // 7-8:30pm // Station Hall (above Herne Hill Station).
All welcome from any part of S London.
We are delighted @helenhayes_ has been re-elected as our MP. From day 1, now 7 years ago, Helen has supported our work of #CommunitySponsorship, speaking at events, representing us in Parliament. We look forward to continuing our work with her passion and support for refugees.
It is an honour & privilege to be re-elected as MP for Dulwich and West Norwood
Thank you to everyone who put your trust in me. I’ll never take it for granted.
I’ll work hard every day for all our communities, this time with a Labour government who will be on our side! ❤️ 🌹
We are proud members of @SLondonCitizens. Last night’s @CitizensUK general election assembly reminded us while our direct work is #CommunitySponsorship, in seeking justice for one refugee family, we seek justice for all refugees and our fellow citizens.
Beautiful reflection on organising and solidarity from Grace Akinyemi at last night’s @CitizensUK general election assembly
“Some of these issues will directly affect our own lives, for the other issues, we care because our neighbour’s struggle is our struggle.”

We've been a little quiet on here of late - so here's a quick 101 on the background of Community Sponsorship at Citizens UK.
Taking you back to the start of Sponsor Refugees...
As we face the grim reality of supporting refugee families in UK via Community Sponsorship in finding a home once the 2yr commitment from their original landlord expires, we will join @CitizensUK at this Housing Summit. We need affordable, social housing. Join us!
One of our founding members @HarrietLamb_ celebrating the work of @WRAP_UK. Harriet was recently appointed their CEO. Her heart and actions for justice are infectious and we’re proud to be on Harriet’s team!
Ok, OK, @dhnnjyn @ClareLissaman @StitchedUpUK - Ending fast fashion & promoting pre-loved is such a priority for @WRAP_UK that I’ll just have to spend more time in charity shops finding treats like my coat here from @oxfamgb in Herne Hill.
I'm proud of all who work to support refugees & asylum seekers in Dulwich & West Norwood including @HHWR_ @SouthwarkAsylum & our councils, both Boroughs of Sanctuary
I'll vote against the #IllegalMigrationBill tonight, described by @JustinWelby as 'cruelty without purpose'
Getting all the vibes that tonight's protest is going to be... Big. 👀
Don't miss it. This is our chance to tell MPs what we think of their horrific abandonment of principle and decency! 💪💪
6pm today - See you at Parliament Square!

We are attending this webinar hosted by @CityofSanctuary to become more aware of what is happening on our doorstep. It also fuels our work with @LambethCitizens migrant justice team. Our fellow members support people in hotels so it’s important to understand & support their work
The Home Secretary stops talking before she has to admit that the only way a teenager fleeing war & persecution to join family in the UK can get here is by getting into a small boat & risking their life
This is the reality of the closing down of safe legal routes. It is shameful
FINALLY someone is saying this out loud and we are hearing the reality of the great myth of #safeandlegal routes being available - as if it is a choice that is disregarded by ‘illegal immigrants’ who prefer to risk their lives to come here.
