Great to meet Conservative Baroness @NosheenaMobarik in Parliament to discuss how we can work together and recognise her efforts to protect migrant children.
❗Thousands in our communities will be shut out of UK citizenship forever.
New gov't guidance means anyone who comes to the UK via a “dangerous journey”, often the only option for those fleeing war, can never become a British citizen.
This must be reversed.
This is cool - for the first time ever we have all (most) of the community organising we do @KingsCollegeLon with @CitizensUK all in one place. Excited to be developing this further next year 💥 https://t.co/rEbLY6Hbay
Tomorrow, now - still true. Lots of great students, lots to be proud of, lots of unis also trying to take into account the real life circumstances learners, teachers, schools, families have faced over recent years. That’s the challenge we should set for ourselves.
What I see in the England of Gareth Southgate, Jude Bellingham and the Lionesses is how football has championed a modern English pride & patriotism that everyone can be invited to be part of. We can be a kinder, gentler country that wants our teams to win

"Treating people as human beings, taking their concerns seriously and recognising them as partners in creating change."
@JamesAsfa reflects on what a new government can learn from the @CitizensUK General Election Assembly.

At our national #GeneralElection assembly we heard powerful responses from politicians on issues that matter to communities. Should they be elected, they've agreed to work with us on #LivingWage, #Citizenship, #Housing & more.
So, what was said? 🧵 (1/16)

We are proud members of @SLondonCitizens. Last night’s @CitizensUK general election assembly reminded us while our direct work is #CommunitySponsorship, in seeking justice for one refugee family, we seek justice for all refugees and our fellow citizens.
Beautiful reflection on organising and solidarity from Grace Akinyemi at last night’s @CitizensUK general election assembly
“Some of these issues will directly affect our own lives, for the other issues, we care because our neighbour’s struggle is our struggle.”
⏲️ Only 5 days left to register to vote ahead of the #GeneralElection4thJuly.
All voters will need Voter ID. If you don't have a valid form of photo ID you must apply for a Voter Authority Certificate by 26th June.
And remember - Commonwealth citizens may be eligible to vote!
This is a really interesting finding. Speaks to the power of organised, engaged communities taking action and leading the way - core to our work with @CitizensUK@SLondonCitizens
📣You don't have to be a British citizen to vote #generalelection24 ‼️
People from 56 Commonwealth countries can vote. Check your eligibility & register using our tool with @MigrantDemos@JustRegisterUK now⬇️
Please pass on so no one loses their say.

After a day of political candidates talking about England and Englishness, why not read a new book about how we replace the puffed up myths of the past and replace them with a new, more ordinary story of England? https://t.co/hdlnpnTeVR

What a powerful night at @WeBelong19 's parliamentary event as they launch their manifesto for change. We Belong are fighting to enable young people to have the stability and certainty they need to get on with their lives 👊🏾✨️
A superb thread from @JamesAsfa of @CitizensUK reflecting on last week’s London mayoral assembly; what makes a citizens assembly. It was a delight to work with some of the people sharing testimonies and other creative elements across the evening on Housing and Living Wage.
Preparation, turnout, celebration, campaign asks and people-power 🔥
Our colleague @JamesAsfa brilliantly breaks down the hard work and innovative cross-society teamwork that goes into a Citizens UK assembly, where local people win change on the issues that matter 👏⬇️
This is what community organising and people power is all about…Accountability! Thank you @JamesAsfa for your words of wisdom on the @citizens_london Mayoral Assembly, that happened last week.
