The Jets are on a dire spot. The Mainstream voices in this market that continue to tow the line and disillusion fans about this teams reality, will end up helping cost everyone
Time to grow some nuts and get loud
Assumption of Rational Management Fallacy:
Don't ask why bad organizations make decisions that keep them bad organizations. It's not solvable from a rational framework.
Just expect them to keep making those kinds of decisions until they affirmatively prove they will not.
Looking like Anders Lee is preparing to hit free agency. His agent Neil Sheehy met with Isles GM Mathieu Darche today. Both sides far apart. The Isles intend to keep trying, they want their captain back. But Lee appears most likely headed to market at the moment. Obviously things could change between now and July 1.
@rivercitybum@ConnorHrabchak1 Well, he was also coming off of hip surgery this year. I don't think the Lowry-2C thing was ever anyone's ideal, but given that Ehlers wasn't allowed to play with 55 at 5v5, and the other C options being pretty not great, 17 was the best choice they had.
Really tells you the state of the off-season when Winnipeg fans are eating each other over the Ehlers thing while we're all sucking the same shit of no playoffs. ๐ญ
For the record, the Jets didn't let Ehlers go. They made him a good offer, possibly better than the Canes did. Years of being relegated to the middle-6 behind the top line made him want a change of scenery, and he took it. Trading him during the run last year would be wrong.
๐จ | Hwang Hee-chan Emergency Keeper ๐งค?
The Wolves forward was seen rocking the gloves in KNT ๐ฐ๐ท training.
Penalties and shot stopping, he can do it all ๐คฃ
@hullonhockey@chevys_abrasive@Ciportom Dubois leaving really killed us. The return was good but he was that 2C we died for when he was on. Tynan being that would be sick.
You know who's going to be paying close attention to how far Ehlers goes in this Cup Finals? Helly. Anything the Jets could do to keep him on the team is not going to make it a more competitive squad. Watching a teammate win a Cup elsewhere might finally tip the scales.
The mistake was completely screwing up the trade deadline and spending multiple 2nd rounders for negative value players who did nothing to help the Jets go deeper in the playoffs. It be like that sometimes.
@Chunnerstahlway Oh, I see what you took issue with. That wasn't what I meant by that lol. More just that he's gonna leave after wanting a change of scenery. That part is similar to Nik (though for different reasons).
Winnipeg didn't appreciate what it truly had in Ehlers and now there's a nonzero chance the same will happen with Helly sometime in the next year. I hope this serves as a poignant lesson in why the Jets have fallen behind what once made them truly great. There's a long path back.
Dunno what Doan's role and mindset will be but if he's more open to data driven analysis, Winnipeg could seriously use more of that. Doesn't need to be money puck or shit like that but at the very least, it'll help the team make more informed choices.
