Beginning May 15, drivers will be able to use a new direct connection ramp from eastbound State Road (S.R.) 826/Palmetto Expressway to northbound I-95, helping improve traffic flow through the Golden Glades Interchange.

Get ready ... a traffic shift is coming soon to northbound S.R. 9A/I-95 to the general purpose lanes. Here’s what crews have been working on to make it happen:

* New asphalt now in place
* NW 151 Street exit ramp reconstruction underway
* New bridge built over NW 151 Street
* New bridges over the Biscayne Canal

This shift will open the area for crews to move into the center section and keep progress moving. Stay tuned for what’s next.

It’s officially open!!! The new ramp is now open to traffic at the Golden Glades Interchange.

Drivers can now travel directly from EB S.R. 826/Palmetto Expressway to NB I-95 for the first time, improving traffic flow through one of South Florida’s busiest interchanges.

Delivered ahead of schedule, this new connection marks a major milestone for the GGI Project and another step forward in transforming how South Florida moves.

Drivers should plan ahead for upcoming nighttime closures in the Golden Glades Interchange area:

• Westbound S.R. 826/Palmetto Expressway at NW 7 Avenue Extension
Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5
10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• Northbound S.R. 9A/I-95 at S.R. 916/NW 135 Street (Exit 10B)
Monday, May 4 through Wednesday, May 6
11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• Southbound S.R. 9A/I-95 at NW 171 Street (Exit 12)
Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8
11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. Lane closures are scheduled during off-peak hours to help minimize impacts to traffic.

Crews recently installed three sets of bridge beams during overnight closures along I-95 as part of the new connection from NW 167 Street to S.R. 7/U.S. 441/NW 2 Avenue.
This work requires full closures to safely place massive beams over the roadway.
