Prisoners and staff have taken part in a global prison fitness challenge aimed at raising awareness of the risks and treatment of #HepatitisC.

Last month, staff participated in our annual Bake Off for @macmillancancer, raising over £450 for this fantastic cause.

We have recently opened a new work boot sterilising unit and have linked up with @HMPSwansea and @HMPCardiff to save on average £18 per pair of boots cleaning and sterilising old pairs to be used again🥾

In partnership with Invisible Walls HMP Cardiff are committed to helping prisoners develop their reading skills. This helps to build better relationships with their children and families and provides a better chance of successful integration back into the community on release.
This month we held our first monthly reading group as part of our Reading Strategy. Throughout the year we will be working with @cardiffuni to support all things reading. Collaborating with Invisible Walls, a productive morning was had by all and we look forward to the next!
Repairing damaged walking aids is a key element of very successful Community Payback project in Cardiff. The partnership with @CV_UHB has been in place for 8 years saving the health board both money and invaluable time of health professionals.

On #RemembranceSunday HMP Cardiff came together to pause and remember those we shall not forget. Staff and Governing Governor marched in the National Parade at Cardiff Cenotaph laying a wreath for those we have lost. Extremely proud!
September saw HMP Cardiff take part in activities day filled with a bake off, quizzes and sports day raising money for @macmillancancer. A total of £330 was raised throughout the day! Thank you to all who took part.

This week the 'Rusty Screws' presented @tyhafan with a cheque for £6,851 (7 Peak Challenge in 34hrs). This was their final challenge of 3 in order to raise the £14,287 to ‘Pay for a Day’. Overall a staggering £17,000 was the final total. We are so proud of you all!
19 July: We were honoured to welcome the Butler Trust’s Royal Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, to the prison. The Princess toured the establishment, spoke to staff, and unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of our new Incentivised Substance Free Living unit. @RoyalFamily
Our Education Dept welcomed @IvaGray60505871 from @PrisonersEd and James from Open University for our first distance learning open day. Over 20 men attended with a view to studying with OU or PET in 2023/24. A positive and productive day, providing opportunities for the future.
