WIFE: "Four dollars and fifteen cents a gallon! I nearly fell over at the pump. Thanks a lot, Trump. And that whole mess with Iran."

HUSBAND: "Here's the crazy part. Oil is actually about forty bucks a barrel CHEAPER than it was under Biden. The barrel isn't the problem."

WIFE: "Then why am I paying four fifteen?!"

HUSBAND: "Refining. Turning the oil into gasoline. That's the bottleneck. And get this - we haven't built a major new refinery in this country since 1977."

WIFE: "Nineteen seventy-SEVEN? I was in high school!"

HUSBAND: "Not one. And we keep shutting down the ones we've got. California alone is closing about eighteen percent of its refineries!"

WIFE: "Who shuts down a refinery when gas costs this much?!"

HUSBAND: "The Democrats. They spent fifty years regulating them to death - permits, lawsuits, fees, and a promise to ban gas cars. Who's going to spend a billion dollars building something Washington swears it's going to outlaw?"

WIFE: "So it was never really about Iran."

HUSBAND: "Iran nudges the barrel a little. But the real story? We've got more oil than any country on Earth and we STILL import six million barrels a day, because we can't refine our own."

WIFE: "That is absolutely insane."

HUSBAND: "Here's the good news. Trump just broke ground on the first new refinery in almost fifty years, down in Texas."

WIFE: "So I've been blaming Trump and HE is the only one actually fixing it?"

HUSBAND: "Now you're getting it."

WIFE: "Wow, I had no idea..."

George Washington left the American mainland only once in his entire life...and it may have saved the Revolutionary War.

In 1751, at nineteen, he boarded a small ship with his half-brother Lawrence and sailed for Barbados. Lawrence was dying of tuberculosis. Doctors believed the island air might save him.

The voyage lasted more than six weeks across what Washington called the "fickle & Merciliss Ocean." On the island, young George caught smallpox. He recovered and sailed home.

Lawrence tried Bermuda next, but nothing helped and he ultimately succumbed to the illness.

Washington never crossed the ocean again. Never saw Europe. Never left the continent that would become the United States.

But that one hard trip saved his life in a surprising way. The smallpox he survived at nineteen left him immune.

Decades later, the disease swept through the Continental Army and killed more of his men than British muskets ever did. Washington, protected by a teenage brush with death in the Caribbean, never fell.

He went on to order the first mass inoculation of an army in American history.

The journey that couldn't save his brother would one day help save the Revolution.

Dolly Parton says one of the greatest achievements of her life was inspired by a man who could barely read or write: her father.

Her dad, Robert Lee Parton, grew up poor in rural Tennessee and never had the chance to get a proper education.

Dolly has said he was one of the smartest people she ever knew, but his inability to read and write was something that embarrassed him throughout his life.

She never forgot that.

So in 1995, Dolly created the Imagination Library.

The idea was simple: every child in her home county, regardless of family income, could receive a free book in the mail every month from birth until they started school.

What began as a small local project exploded.

The program eventually spread across the United States and into other countries, sending hundreds of millions of free books to children.

Dolly has said the Imagination Library is one of the things she is most proud of in her entire career.

And her father got to see it happen.

She said he loved hearing children call her “The Book Lady” and was incredibly proud that something born from his own struggle with literacy was helping millions of children avoid the same fate.

Dolly Parton became one of the biggest stars in the world.

But one of her proudest legacies began with the man who never learned to read.
