Doctors received offers for Radiology training posts at around 3-4pm. They were able to accept these offers on Oriel and received confirmation of acceptance. Offers then began to disappear on Oriel. At 6:30pm they received this email.
Simply unacceptable.
There is a massive scandal within the NHS that the public aren’t being told about.
20,000 NHS doctors aren’t being allowed to become specialists, due to a lack of training jobs for them. These jobs are being centrally restricted by the government.
Doctors want to help the NHS, but are being held back from doing so. There is no rational explanation for this. When it takes months to see a specialist, or years to get your operation ask yourself why.
It is shocking that 1000s of doctors are out of training jobs, yet the only thing @wesstreeting has proposed is yet another ‘review’.
An entire generation of doctors are being tossed aside. Those responsible should be resigning in shame.
You spent 14 years running the NHS into the ground. Cancer care. Broken. Emergency care. Broken. Mental health. Broken. And a waiting list so long it can be seen from outer space.
How do you think this party politicking plays with patients, @TomTugendhat?
The ones I try to care for as they die on trolleys outside A&E because your party hates public services so viscerally you’d rather let pensioners who paid taxes all their lives die - without a shred of dignity - than fund the NHS properly.
Politics isn’t a game, Tom. It’s real people, real lives. As an NHS doctor who used to work in a thriving NHS I once felt proud of - and now who wants to weep at times at the sorry shell of a service we are forced to provide, because of your political choices - I can tell you how it makes me feel. Sick.
You threw NHS patients to the wolves. For FOURTEEN years.
Grow up, own it, and show some humility.
This is interesting.
It was sheer madness for the last govt to have rigged GP funding so that practices could employ literally anyone but a GP (meaning many GPs wanted to work but simply couldn’t find a job).
GPs are worth their weight in gold.
We need so many more of them.
PATIENTS SHOULD KNOW WHO IS AND IS NOT A DOCTOR
@TheBMA has called on Health Secretary @wesstreeting to stop the dangerous substitution of doctors
This is why I’m supporting them👇
If you do too RT this widely
Replacing doctors on medical rotas with PAs presents a huge threat to patient safety. But as the Mail reports today (£) it is all too common.
After no action from the previous Government, we need @wesstreeting to stop this practice in its tracks. https://t.co/BtDEHWyqpH
‘If OTs start working as GPs we’ll make sure they work within scope’
Ehm, if the course goes ahead, they’re already working out of scope.
And, why should we trust a single word from RCGP after the scandalous implementation and management of PAs in general practice?
@TheOfficialJVS@BBC3CR@BBCSounds Just shows how out of touch he is. The people who actually want to join any of these services have to undergo a vigorous selection process. It is insulting of him to think that anyone can simply be told to go along to join plus they would need a huge amount of costly training.
I am passionate about our NHS and have always wanted to get involved with @NHSEngland in a workforce or patients safety role.
But I wrote this article knowing that publishing it would probably stop that happening as they are unlikely to appoint someone who is so openly critical.
But sometimes the civil servants detached from the reality of front line work need to be reminded about the dangers and risks of their actions.
In A&Es up and down the country our sickest patients are suffering in pursuit of hitting arbitrary targets in order for the politicians to gaslight the country about the state of emergency care in the NHS.
I expect nothing less from our current government.
But what saddens me most, is that senior people who work for @NHSEngland have just acquiesced to unacceptable practices and not spoken up against blatant political interference in patient care priorities.
@BootsHelp I’ve been asked to attach a verification passcode when I log into the app. The text message comes from a mobile number +447446270015
When I google this number many people are saying it is a scam & to block this number.
Please can you confirm if it is from you? TY
