Three years ago, I was the kind of man people admired.
I owned a successful construction company, drove expensive cars, lived in a beautiful house, and never worried about paying my bills. My girlfriend, Vanessa, lived with me, and I made sure she enjoyed every bit of the life I had worked so hard to build.
She never had to ask twice for anything. Designer bags, luxury vacations, expensive jewelry...I gave her whatever made her happy.
I thought I had found a woman who loved me for who I was, not what I owned.
When my friends warned me that Vanessa was becoming too obsessed with money, I defended her.
“She was there for me emotionally,” I told them, even though I had met her after my business had already become successful.
Then she started asking questions about my company, my properties, my bank accounts, and how much everything was worth.
At first, I thought she was simply interested in our future together.
Then, one evening, she looked me in the eyes and said something I would never forget.
“Baby, if something ever happened to you, what would happen to me and everything we have?”
I laughed and pulled her closer.
“Nothing will happen to me. We're building our future together.”
I had no idea that the woman sleeping beside me every night was already planning how to take that future away from me.
And the worst part?
I was about to hand her the weapon she would use against me.
My husband thinks I go to the gym to lose weight.
I go because of HIM. The instructor who lives 20 meters from my house.
Married? Yes. Guilty? Not when he looks at me like that.
I booked the last slot. 8:30 PM. Night class.
No one else showed up. It was just us, loud rain, and that mirror wall.
He said, "You're getting stronger. But you're distracted."
I said, "I know what distracts me."
James,
I'm slightly confused.
My contracted hours are 9-5 and all of my work was completed before I left yesterday.
I've also never been told I'm expected to stay after 5.
If my working hours have changed, can you please confirm what time I'm now expected to finish?
Hannah
Hannah,
Nobody is changing your contracted hours.
This isn't really about a specific finishing time.
It's about attitude.
When your manager and colleagues are still working, packing your things at 4:58 so you can walk out at 5:00 sends a message.
The people who progress here tend to be the ones willing to give a little extra without needing to be asked.
JamesJames,
Understood.
Just so I'm completely clear, am I being asked to work beyond my contracted hours unpaid?
If staying after 5 is being considered when deciding who gets promoted, I'd also like to understand how that additional time is recorded.
I've checked my payslips and I can't see any overtime payments.
Could you please confirm how this works?
Hannah
Hannah,
I think you're deliberately missing the point.
Nobody is asking you to work unpaid. I'm talking about demonstrating commitment.
If you need every additional minute formally recorded and compensated before you're willing to help your team, then perhaps this isn't the type of working environment you're suited to.
For transparency, your attitude around this will be taken into consideration during your performance review next month.
You are, of course, free to leave at 5pm.
Just don't expect every choice to come without consequences.

MOTHERS ARE PRICELESS...
A flight attendant told me about the strangest passenger she's ever had.
It was a 6am flight from London to New York. A man in his 40s boarded, sat in 14A, buckled up, and immediately started setting up a laptop, a second monitor, a ring light and a tiny microphone.
She walked over and said, "Sir, I'm sorry, but you can't use all of that during take-off."
He said, "Of course. I'll wait until we reach cruising altitude."
She said, "You can't use the ring light at all."
He looked genuinely hurt. He said, "I have a webinar with 300 people at 9am. I need good lighting."...
Eventually, we decided to hop to a new spot across town.
We stumbled out to my car. I slipped into the driver’s seat and was just turning the key in the ignition when she leaned over and caught my eye.
"Have you ever done it in a car before?" she asked softly.
"Done what?" I blinked, catching my breath.
"You know what I mean," she murmured, a sly smile tugging at her lips.
"Truthfully? Never," I admitted.
"Me neither," she whispered.
That was all the permission we needed. In seconds, we scrambled over the console into the back seat. Fueled by alcohol and pure impulse, we collided in the dark.
Hands fumbled over clothing as heat filled the tight space. She gasped as my fingers found their way beneath her jeans, already slick and ready. I shed my pants, fully hard, and guided myself inside.
I Thought My Husband Was Cheating Because He Suddenly Started Hiding His Phone. I Wasn't Ready for the Truth.
My husband suddenly became very protective of his phone, and I started suspecting he was cheating on me.
For almost two months, he would take his phone into the bathroom, turn the screen away whenever I came close, and step outside to answer certain calls.
The man who used to leave his phone beside me while he showered was now carrying it everywhere.
One night, I finally confronted him.
Me: “Are you seeing someone else?”
Husband: “What?”
Me: “You heard me. Why are you suddenly hiding your phone from me?”
He looked exhausted.
Husband: “Please, just trust me.”
That answer made everything worse.
I started noticing little things. He would smile at messages and immediately lock his screen when I entered the room. Sometimes he would leave the house claiming he had errands, only to return hours later.
I was convinced there was another woman.
One Saturday, he left his phone charging in the bedroom while he went to take a shower.
A message appeared on the screen.
“Have you told her yet? She deserves to know.”
Boss: “Congratulations. We've decided to promote your sister.”
Me: “My sister?”
Boss: “Yes. She interviewed exceptionally well.”
I stared at him.
Me: “I've been acting in that position for six months.”
Boss: “We appreciate your work.”
Me: “I've trained the new employees, handled the difficult clients, and written the procedures the department uses every day.”
Boss: “Your sister demonstrated strong leadership potential.”
I walked out of his office without another word.
That evening, I called my sister.
Me: “Did you tell them you created the new reporting system?”
Sister: “I helped improve it.”
Me: “You copied....
My husband says I should just ask him when I need help with our daughter.
Last Tuesday, her school called him first.
He called me five minutes later.
“Babe, what are we supposed to do about this?”
I asked him one question.
“Did you read the message?”
For three years, I had been the person who knew everything.
When picture day was. When her medicine ran out. Which days she needed her PE kit. When the school fees were due.
My husband wasn't a bad father.
He played with her, made her laugh, and never complained about spending money on her.
But he didn't know anything until I told him.
If I forgot, it didn't happen.
Before we got married, my wife and I made one agreement.
At the time, it sounded simple.
Six months into our marriage, that agreement almost destroyed us.
We had decided we wouldn’t have children immediately.
We wanted three years together first.
Time to settle down.
Build our careers.
Save money.
Enjoy marriage before becoming parents.
i have a neighbor who waves at me every morning from his balcony while i wait for the bus. for two years it was just a wave, and i waved back. then last month the bus stopped coming for a whole week because of road work, and on day three he yelled down "you can stop waiting, the route changed!" i was so embarrassed that i had been standing there for three days that i just yelled "i know!" and walked away like it was part of my plan. the next morning, i went to a different stop two streets over, and he was already standing there in a jacket, holding two coffees...
Bob came home drunk one night, slipped into bed beside his sleeping wife, and fell into a deep sleep.
He woke up before the Pearly Gates, where St. Peter told him, “You died in your sleep, Bob.”
Bob was shocked. “I’m dead? No, I can’t be! I have too much to live for. Please, send me back!”
St. Peter sighed. “There’s only one way. You must return as a chicken.”
I don't know which one of them got me pregnant......
My sister sat across the table from me.
She was fidgeting. Her eyes were red, and she couldn't look me straight in the face.
I had never seen her like this.
"I slept with four men in one month," she whispered, her voice shaky.
"One is my ex. Sis, he came back. He begged. He said he had changed.
"The other is Frank." She lowered her head. "My best friend. We were drunk. A mistake. We agreed to forget it."
My heart was thumping, but I kept listening, saying nothing as she continued.
Hold on… did No Way Home lowkey drop a hidden loophole for Ned to remember Peter? Look closely at that final moment on the roof before Doctor Strange cast the memory spell.
When Peter and Ned lock hands for their signature move, a tiny spark of magic literally flashes between their fingers. At the time, everybody wrote it off as a quick comic relief beat. But Strange’s spell was designed to erase Peter Parker from people’s minds not physical muscle memory, and definitely not leftover sorcery.
Given Ned’s natural connection to magic, that handshake might’ve accidentally locked in a somatic trigger a magical anchor sitting dormant in his brain, just waiting for Peter to initiate it again.
Watch his eyes right when their hands lock. Something clicks instantly. Did Ned actually bypass Strange’s spell using muscle memory and magic, or am I reaching?
I Let my Friend Watch me Màsturbate and Jèřķ off On my Pùșșy..
I've been seeing this guy Julian for a while now. "Seeing". I don't even know if that's the right word. We're not dating exactly, but we are something. He's patient with me in a way that no one else has been, and I don't think he knows how much that means to me. I'm a virgin, and i'm pretty committed to waiting until marriage. Religion and all that. So when I say "patient" that is what I mean.
He came over on last Saturday afternoon. My roommate was gone for the weekend and I told him that when I texted him and he said "Do you want company?" and I said yes.
We sat on my couch and drank some tea and just talked about nothing for a while. His knee was touching mine and I was hyper aware of it the way I'm always hyper aware of any part of him that's touching any part of me. It seriously makes me excited lol. I think i'm just super sensitive.
"Can I ask you something?" he said at one point.
"Yeah." I said.
He went on to tell me about how he had an idea for something we could do together. He started by telling me that he was fully respectful of what my limits are, and about the fact that I am waiting, but he told me he had an idea for something that we could to together that would still be fun in the meantime.
"I've been thinking about something," he continued. "And you can say no. Obviously. You can always say no."
"Just tell me."
"What would you think about… About masturbating together?"
My whole face went all red and I covered my mouth with my hand.
"Like. Right now?" I managed to say. God i'm so awkward when it comes to sex stuff idk why I think it is just how I was raised.
"Whenever you want. I just. I want to see you. The way you look when you feel good. I think it would be hot."
I am not gonna lie, I have thought about this before. In my head when I'm alone at night with my vibrator I think about him watching me and me watching him and it makes everything more intense and I've never told him that because how do you tell someone that. Awkward lmao.
