Serving as Presiding Commissioner has been an honor, but we’re just getting started. I need your help seeking a second term. I would be honored if you would join me at my Campaign Kickoff on Tuesday, June 24, 5 - 7 pm at Shakespeare’s South. https://t.co/krS0xUK4XD
This is really hard for some people to understand: that in many cases, the credible threat of the use of force may be more effective than its actual use.
Zohran Mamdani's 2032 presidential campaign will be him just travelling the country remembering some guys.
He's gonna go into Iowa and be like "Who could forget the time Bob Sanders forced three fumbles against the Gophers in his last game at Kinnick?"
War goals over time:
1. We’re liberating the people Iran!
2. We’re ending a theocratic nuclear regime!
3. We’re making the Middle East/Israel safe for generations!
[time elapses]
4. We’re restoring the antebellum price of crude!
The Boone County Commission approved agreements to purchase 800MHz radios for Ashland Police Department, Boone Health EMS, and the Court Marshals. The grant awards totaled $190,330; $296,525; and $93,860 respectively. We’re happy to be able to help partners across the County.
Ben Samuels: Lowering taxes is a worthy goal, but for most Missourians, Amendment 5 would drive their taxes up, not down. A5's rushed, incomplete policy would obliterate Missouri’s budget https://t.co/IXTbnhqpTT
Not Overheard at the Pentagon (b/c I am not allowed to go there anymore), from GWOT vet in response to the proposed Global War on Terror war memorial, unveiled today: "My idea was to have an eternal flame at the bottom of a big hole that you could just throw money at. That would reenact the war for me."
On August 4th, voters will be asked to decide whether or not the state will replace its income tax with an everything tax. This is a great deal for the top 1% of earners but a bad deal for working families, seniors, and anyone in the state who works for a living.
NYT: [Trump] said you were part of this gang of 'stupid, crooked people that don’t care about your country.'
SCOTT PELLEY: "Stupid? I can take that. Stiff? Yeah, probably. Don't care about the country? I've never worn the uniform. But I've been in combat for this country, in Afghanistan and Iraq, Kuwait. I've been shot at, spent nights in foxholes filling up with water in the desert. I'm not aware that the president of the United States has ever done any of those things for his country. Please correct me if I'm wrong. You become a journalist because you love the First Amendment. You become a journalist because you love the country. And while all the other descriptions that the president used about me might be applicable, not that one. [Tears up] There is no democracy without journalism. It can't be done. That is why I am a journalist."
I honestly wonder who thought it was a good idea, on the anniversary of D-Day, to have a speech in which the Secretary's own ideology is set in metaphorical parallel to the Nazis opposing the beaches being stormed on D-Day.
We started our road show to get out of the County seat and take meetings to communities across Boone County. Meeting city administrators and discussing projects have led to more coordinated efforts and better use of resources. The work still remains. https://t.co/J4OrJnBOaM
This week, we celebrated the arrival of @Allegiant at @FLYFROMCOU. The addition of Allegiant service means three more direct flights, greater connectivity, and new opportunities for residents, students, businesses, and visitors across our region.
Sen. Tillis: "Did you actually tell Pulte you were going to punch him in the face?"
Bessent: "No, sir. I actually said I was going to kick his ass."
Tillis: "Good, I share the emotion…I'm not going to support Pulte for DNI…He lost me when he went after Powell."
Have to think if Trump's endorsement came several months earlier in the primary, tonight very well may not have looked like this at all. For comparison, 4th District candidate Chris McGowan got the endorsement in February and by filing deadline was the only one left standing.
