Discussions on the #decolonization of the aid sector or refugee regime and making the responses and programming better informed and led by refugees have not been easy. #RLOs and #refugees have found themselves on the receiving end, having to prove their value in the refugee regime response. On the contrary, while donors and the "big brothers of the system" have been slow in facilitating genuine acceleration of the localization agenda, the communities that refugees and RLOs serve value them, feel their impact, and are often confronted with high expectations to deliver greater impact with less funding and facilitation.
In the latest episode of "What's Unsaid Podcast" by @newhumanitarian, hosted by @Enugu62, I argue for the need to "let refugees lead" and to facilitate "enough seats at the table for refugees," which is the exact blueprint that @RefugeesSeat is advancing. I know some of the content in the podcast will make some of us uncomfortable, but that's exactly what we need to move the needle in enhancing efficiency in supporting refugees and local actors.
