Here’s how Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah surprised Isaac at his school and made sure he created unforgettable memories 🥰 #RedTogether
Years ago I had a 70 year old man come to me because he wanted start playing golf. He told me he had never played any sport. When I asked him why he wanted to start now, he said since his wife passed away he was feeling lonely. All his friends played golf, and he wanted to play in order to spend more time with them. While he was in reasonably good shape for a 70 year old, he was very unathletic, and he struggled to even make contact with the ball. Both of us started getting frustrated. After a few weeks, he arrived for his lesson and told me he was giving up. I convinced him to stay for his lesson. I didn't want to give up on him. The lesson started out as usual as he continued to struggle to make contact. Then a thought popped into my head. He swung the club again and topped the ball about ten yards. I smiled and said, "That was the best swing you have made."
He perked up a little.
"Really?"
"Yes. That swing looked like a golf swing."
His whole demeanor changed. He swung again only this time he struck the ball well enough to get it airborne.
He turned and looked at me. "How was that?"
"Even better."
The rest of the lesson, he kept making decent contact. His confidence rose with each swing. A few weeks later he played his first round with his friends. When I saw him next, he was a different man. There was a brightness in his eyes, a bounce in his step. Sometimes coaches need to step away from the teaching and just be encouraging. It's all he needed from me. He was never going to be good at the game but that didn't matter. He was happy and enjoying the time with his friends. That's what golf is really all about. It didn't happen because of a swing thought or concept. It happened because of some encouragement. Sometimes that's all a person needs. Not just in golf but in life as well.
In honor of @Jerrythekid21's hole-in-one heard around the world, we're going to GIVE AWAY a year's supply of golf balls.
