Canada's CBC has instructed journalists not to call 9/11 a “terrorist attack.”

There's just one awkward problem.

Canada responded to 9/11 by passing the Anti-terrorism Act, creating the legal framework defining terrorist activity.

Canadian governments have spent 25 years explicitly referring to 9/11 as a terrorist attack.

CBC is a Crown corporation. It doesn't get to rewrite history because the word “terrorism” has suddenly become uncomfortable.

19 men hijacked passenger aircraft and deliberately flew them into buildings full of civilians as part of an al-Qaeda operation.

That's not politically charged language. That's what terrorism means.

And it doesn't matter how many terror supporters you've allowed into your borders over the last 25 years, Canada. A law is still a law.

One of the reasons “racial hatred” is defined in UK law to include ‘nationality’ is we would recognise it clear as day when applied to other countries. So an obsession with destroying for example Pakistan & an obsessive hatred of Pakistanis would be seen as clearly racist.

What I love about this post is how well it tracks with other extremist ideologies’ complaints about Judaism.

The antisemitic right has long picked out passages from Jewish religious teachings to claim that Jews are racist and have supremacist aspirations.

Meanwhile, in the USSR, the KGB investigated Jewish religious writings and declared them dangerous Zionist supremacist literature. Like the good Doctor here, they designated specific prayers as particularly subversive.

Here are a few excerpts from a 1959 memorandum from the Ukrainian KGB to the Department of Propaganda and Agitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party:

“The Mir prayer book is one of the most reactionary prayer books issued in the past 100 years. In it are included the most reactionary prayers (Aleinu, Kol Nidre, and others), which openly propagate Zionism, the ‘exclusivity’ and ‘superiority’ of the Jewish people, and the final victory of the Jewish people over the entire world.”

“Of particular use to the hostile elements propagandizing Zionism are the numerous religious sayings which imply that the genuine homeland of the Jews, regardless of where they may reside, is not the country that raised them, but Zion (i.e., the imperialist state of Israel).”

“This literature is permeated with a spirit of militant nationalism” and is “hostile to the fundamentals of socialist morals.”

The similarities here are obvious. So, congrats to Dr. Rahmeh for keeping such great ideological company. Her post is a perfect illustration of the Red-Green-Brown convergence.

Meanwhile, we’ll, of course, keep praying the way we have for thousands of years.

And yes, the idea of an eternal connection between the land of Israel and the Jewish people—aka Zionism—is absolutely part of Judaism. Thanks for agreeing with us.

When you say, “Free Palestine,” what do you mean, specifically?

I think a lot of you think it means peace and love for all. Palestinians get a state and you don’t have to think about the scary war anymore.

The problem is, that’s not what Palestinians mean. They literally want the destruction of Israel and will not settle for anything else. And the reason we know that is this is the choice that they’ve made over and over and over.

The deal they walked away from with Arafat in the 90s was astonishing, and even shared Jerusalem. Palestinians chose to continue fighting for the destruction of Israel instead.

If Israel were to fall, the 7 million Jews there would be slaughtered in the streets and ethnically cleansed. This is a fact. So when you say “Free Palestine,” you are actually advocating a second Holocaust.
