😱Turns out treating everyone like a suspect isn't going down too well...
“The British public does not want to live in a ‘papers, please’ society.
“They emphatically rejected mandatory digital ID, and as they learn more about invasive facial recognition technology, they are rejecting it too.
“It is outrageous to subject millions of innocent people to intrusive biometric identity checks when they have done absolutely nothing wrong” - @JCoulson1013

Why are @EPPGroup and @EP_President so shamefully undermining EU values and citizens’ rights to serve vendors like Thorn — a US organisation that lobbies EU institutions for scanning mandates while selling the very detection software those mandates would require?
Parliament let it lapse in April. @EP_President put it back on the urgent track, and the plenary waved it through 331–304 — content vote Thursday.
Let’s remind EPP MEPs together before Thursday:
1. Undermining encryption and privacy is the same structural mistake we see in the abuse of AML/CFT and cybersecurity laws.
Those regimes were built as technical compliance rules — and are now routinely weaponised against EU citizens and companies by adversary states such as Russia and their proxies, because the “technical” label lets sweeping measures skip the scrutiny a direct rights-restricting law would face. Chat Control’s “voluntary” derogation is the same trick.
2. As constituents, demand that the EPP — which leads as of now in Parliament, the Council and the Commission — stops this, defends EU values and fundamental rights, and honestly weighs the damage these practices do to European society, security and competitiveness.
🇪🇺 The EU is now for the 6th time trying to force Chat Control through which lets them scan ALL your private messages, photos and emails without a warrant
Implictly showing the EU is not democratic and not about what the people of Europe want, because once a law is rejected, you just re-submit it until nobody is watching and it's passed
November 2023: ❌ Chat Control is rejected
June 2024: ❌ Chat Control is rejected
October 2025: ❌ Chat Control is rejected
November 2025: ❌ Chat Control is rejected
March 2026: ❌ Chat Control is rejected
July 2026: 📝 Chat Control is back
Even the EU's own lawyers stated Chat Control is unconstitutional: "generalised message scanning is incompatible with Article 7 of the EU Charter"
You have to wonder why the EU is so adament about reading your private chats, right?
