I tip well pretty much always even when service isn't great. My guy says too well sometimes 50% but this is a bad take for a server. Demanding a 30% tip is inappropriate. I agree that you should be able to afford to tip if you are going to a place where tipping is the cultural norm. And i often try to make up for lousy tippers but it irritates me when a specific amount is expected.

As a salaried employee, I work an unlimited number of hrs at a "small" addiction recovery/mental health practice in a small town that receives zero government grants and constantly battles the US healthcare system especially since ACA plans became a thing. We write off an insane amount of money because our current system is failing. If writing an email about what I did this week would provide security for our business and or our client's id jump at the chance. We do this because our practitioners and I believe the American people deserve better than what we've been given.
