This VP pick upped the stakes for the upcoming DNC. As someone who thinks Trump and Trumpism both need to be soundly defeated by big margins this November, @KamalaHarris and @Tim_Walz need to do four things quickly to assuage concerns of @Principles_1st voters around the country who they will need to win the White House:
1. Make it absolutely clear to every American that a Harris-Walz administration will support Israel’s right to defend itself and unequivocally condemn antisemitic forces within the Democratic tent. Bob Dole did this at the 1996 RNC when he said: “If there is anyone who has mistakenly attached themselves to our party in the belief that we’re not open to citizens of every race and religion, then let me remind you, tonight this hall belongs to the party of Lincoln and the exits, which are clearly marked, are for you to walk out of as I stand this ground without compromise.” Harris and Walz should deliver a similar message at the DNC.
2. Make it absolutely clear that a Harris-Walz administration will be “capitalist,” continuing a message that President Biden has repeatedly reiterated every time he has been pushed on this point. This is not an election to be offering some radical rethink of the American economy. This is an election to keep the train on the tracks and defend the basic things that make America the envy of the world: the Constitution, the rule of law, our elections, an independent justice system, and, yes, free enterprise.
3. Make it absolutely clear that a Harris-Walz administration will be faithful defenders of the rule of law and uphold its impartial application, regardless of the party affiliation of rioters or what their cause may be. If you destroy or deface public buildings or you attack police, you go to jail—whether you’re wearing a red hat or a blue shirt. This is critical and an important contrast to Trumpism, which would pardon convicted J6 felons.
4. Make it absolutely clear that a Harris-Walz administration will be committed to securing the border and signing into law the bipartisan border bill that would have become law had Trump not tanked it. Harris has already said this—but she needs to keep saying it.
If they do these things, they can win the percentage of principled conservatives and independents that they’ll need to make the difference in close states like PA, MI, WI and AZ.
@sal19 Coming back to Twitter (or whatever) just to say congrats! May send you a note if you’re interested in any intro meetings - I’m with 6sense now and would love to connect you with some execs for some AI/genAI chats.
@scottbudman@balajis I know I’ve sent you pitches in the past that were not the best (I’m sorry) but I’ve always appreciated that you’ve sent me a response. Feedback like that provides data to underpin our counsel, etc. PR always gets kicked around on Twitter - you don’t see it the other way around.
@chrissyfarr … who do you think is behind a lot of this though? Who helps build channels and bring exposure? PR gets a lot of negativity directed our way and it feels like it’s because a lot of misunderstanding into what our function is.
@alex I like the funny memes around, ya know, not ever having to calculate the area of a rhombus or whatever, but damn it’s like being well-rounded and interested in having critical thinking/problem solving skills is an inconvenience.
@tomemmer@JoeBiden Bro. Transgender Visibility Awareness Day has fallen on the SAME DAY since it was initiated. Easter has not. People don’t vote FOR someone based on this but they will vote AGAINST you.
@FrontierCare Thanks, Mauricio. Will respond with my confirmation info as there were several missed opportunities for gate agents to just display some basic customer service.
Hey @FlyFrontier I get that you’re the budget airline but not sure why you can’t train your gate agents to at least take an extra moment to be polite. Friendly customer service shouldn’t be an add on.
The Senate no longer enforcing a dress code for Senators to appease Fetterman is disgraceful.
Dress code is one of society’s standards that set etiquette and respect for our institutions.
Stop lowering the bar!
@BarrettAll Heard the announcers say that this was our “best third quarter in a long time” and that one hurt a little. Just hoping Colorado gets crushed by TCU this weekend otherwise I can’t show my face in that stadium next weekend.
