Parents Protest in Abuja Over 16 Months of Unpaid Allowances for Students Abroad

Parents of Nigerian students studying overseas under the Federal Government’s Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Programme have protested at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja, demanding the payment of 16 months’ outstanding living allowances.

The protesters blocked the entrance of the ministry, carrying placards to draw attention to their grievances.

The BEA scheme funds Nigerian students studying in countries such as Russia, China, Hungary, and Morocco, covering tuition, accommodation, medical care, and a monthly living allowance of $500 for both undergraduate and postgraduate scholars.

Yesterday during the Nigeria vs. Gabon game, while walking to the other side of the pitch after halftime, I saw some banners and placards, and I noticed some of them calling my name. I was like, do they have a Pooja Nation in Morocco?

But to my surprise, it was a very serious issue. Sigh.

One of the students said that the Nigerian Bilateral Education Agreement Scholars under the Federal Government have been abandoned in Morocco for over 15 months without payment.

The issue is so critical that they've lost one student to illness because they can't afford his medical bills.

I told them I would use my platforms to help them if the relevant authorities would see it.

At @ATFunded we actively communicate with traders who we believe have some strategy but are over leveraging or trading emotionally and try to get them to adjust.

I am very proud to say that we have 2 traders currently on plus who went from blowing funded accounts to maintaining them and getting past the 3 payout mark.

The main change was to deleverage, take less risk and maintain their account. Both of them have seen drawdowns but have always recovered so far.

Like many things in life, sometimes less is more.
