Excited to share my latest blog on rethinking the PE kit! Even more excited about the work being donw with @LeedsWellSchool with girls in Leeds who are helping shape more inclusive PE kit options - from sports bras to sports hijabs.
Have a read and let me know what you think.
Rethinking the PE Kit - When we think about barriers in PE how often do we stop to think about the PE kit itself, & whether it is helping or hindering participation? https://t.co/ZpdASuNVyA
Our Girls Active programme is our commitment to fostering girls' participation in PE, sport and physical activity. The programme aims to tackle the barriers girls experience and through cultivating a movement of girls and young women, empower them to take positive action through influencing, leading, and inspiring their peers. 🙌
With this in mind, we wanted to share the resources created with @howard__tess and Inclusive Sportwear who are on a mission support schools, clubs, brands, and sport governing bodies to deliver inclusive sports kit policies and practices at every level of sport.

Fantastic time at Headingley Stadium with Leeds Rhinos and secondary PE teachers from across Leeds, exploring new opportunities to get young people active and engaged in sport! 🙌
I loved writing this blog. Sports bras for girls in PE is a topic I feel strongly about - there’s not enough conversation or support as their bodies change, and many end up stepping back from sport. Have a read and let me know your thoughts. 👇
Getting Girls Moving: The Sports Bra Conversation in PE - For many pre-teens and teenage girls, one of the biggest barriers to feeling fully comfortable in class is not having the right support with a suitable sports bra. https://t.co/83peZYotGz

As the summer holidays come to an end, the early mornings, planning & marking return.
But remember, for some children seeing your smiley face may be the best part of their summer. 💛

Something as simple as PE kit can shape how girls feel about moving their bodies.
It’s not about brands — it’s about:
🖤 A spare hair tie
🖤 Shorts that stay put
🖤 Kit that hides sweat
🖤 Feeling safe on their period
The right kit = confidence, happiness + freedom to move.
ASICS’ new ‘Undropped Kit’ tackles one of the main reasons girls drop out of PE: discomfort.
Co-designed with teenage girls, the kit supports different body shapes, weather conditions, and personal needs—helping more girls stay active.

This broke me.
I lived with cystic acne for 30 years. It’s not “bad skin.” It’s agony. It’s bullying, people mocking you, laughing, the constant feeling you’re unworthy of love or affection. You carry the scars.....etched into your skin reminding you of how ugly and ashamed the world made you feel.
And now, on what should have been the happiest day of her life, Skye Stout signs her first professional contract, only to have grown men crawl out to mock her skin.
Pathetic. Cruel. Cowards.
Do you even realise what you’ve done? Do you understand how debilitating this condition is to someone’s self-worth? Or are you too busy hiding behind your keyboards, projecting your own rot onto someone braver, stronger and more beautiful than you’ll ever be?
Skye, you are talent. You are courage. You are beauty.
Congratulations darling girl ❤️

So happy to see that conversations around PE kits, choice and comfort are finally being prioritised because happier children in PE means more confident and engaged learners.
Huge credit to @howard__tess for challenging for change!
