The Danish Center for Hadal Research (HADAL) is a @GrundforskFond Centre of Excellence based @NATsdu and led by Prof Ronnie N. Glud. Tweets by lab members.
I’m proud to have two visits of @GrundforskFond today at @NATsdu 😀 At @Hadal_Center I learned about the bacteria with very long lives in the deep trenches. It is amazing how much the historic Galathea expeditions have inspired deep sea research of today @Biology_SDU

What lives at the bottom of the Mariana Trench? And what equipment do we use to study the hadal zone? These are some questions that were answered while welcoming thousands of curious visitors through the doors of @SyddanskUni for #ForskningensDøgn@NATsdu@forskdk#dkforsk#dkvid
Check our new paper in @NatureComms, introducing a novel proxy based on bacterial #brGDGTs for quantifying benthic #oxygen uptake (DOU) in #deepsea settings—key for assessing microbial activity and organic carbon mineralization. @Hadal_Center @nordcee https://t.co/eUp9HVwE6O
I am pleased to share our Perspective article in @PNASNews exploring photosynthetic production occurring on the elusive Arctic seafloor.

Fish with swimbladders should not descend below 7200m, so when @Hadalbloke & @DrToddBond spotted a macrourid at 7259m, they knew it was miraculous. With Imantes Priede they reveal that a 1kg fish's swimbladder could hold 37.9g oxygen for buoyancy 🧵1/2

Very happy (former) PhD supervisor of @BTrouche who published yet another chapter. Check the github repo: it's a gold mine!
Thanks to co-authors and @Hadal_Center for the great collaboration! https://t.co/D7NVujenqC
Hvor får de mad fra, alle de smådyr og mikrober, der lever i dybhavet? Det kommer biolog Peter Stief et al fra Danish Center for Hadal Research @Hadal_Center med en forklaring på her

Our annual @NATsdu field course in Marine Biology saw 15 Masters students designing and carrying out independent research projects. This year, the students were tasked with trying to answer the question: ‘How do extreme weather events impact coastal ecosystems?’
🌊🐡Congratulations to deep sea researcher Ronnie Glud @Hadal_Center who has been elected to give the Harald Sverdrup Lecture at the @theAGU Ocean Sciences Meeting in February🙌🎉
