It's official: Polymarket is now a Preferred Prediction Market Exchange of the NBA 🏀
Official NBA data, exclusive activations, and a whole new era of basketball starts now.
I’m pleased the @CFTC and @NBA have signed an MOU continuing the Commission’s commitment to increasing data sharing between the agency and professional sports leagues. The NBA joins the @MLB and @NHL in taking a responsible step toward protecting sports integrity and market participants from abuses in prediction markets like insider trading and fraud.
I thank NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for putting the integrity of professional basketball and America’s financial markets first and for working with the agency on this MOU.
Big news out of Canada.
Codex is now registered as a payment service provider with the Bank of Canada as “Codex Financial Canada Limited” under the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA), and is also a FINTRAC-registered MSB.
This paves the way for Codex to expand its third-party payment services, helping businesses pay and get paid across borders, with support for both fiat currencies and stablecoins.
Stay tuned.
Compute is to the future what Oil has been to the industrial age. We commend the @CFTC for their innovative thinking on this topic and are excited to be able to help contribute through these comment letters.
This week, @dragonfly filed a comment letter with the CFTC on compute derivatives. Compute is a swiftly growing expense for tech companies, yet the market for hedging its cost is still nascent.
The challenge starts with defining what’s being traded. Not all GPU-hours are equal: hardware, performance, and availability can materially affect their value. Liquid derivatives markets need comparable units of compute and reliable price benchmarks.
@HadickM@bryanmedelman@peteryshin and I advocate for technology-neutral standards, equal treatment of credible pricing sources, and support for perpetual futures to hedge ongoing compute costs.
We applaud @CFTC for taking on these important questions and laying the groundwork for a liquid, competitive compute derivatives market.
@Internfud@Polymarket@nextpredictio Pretty much any reasonable estimation of what is happening and the legal and regulatory winds tells you that those contracts are safe, despite Utah’s desire to circumvent US law.
Narrative violation, but @Polymarket just had its best week ever in terms of volume, revenue and average outstanding OI.
Catch me talking about this and the future of institutional and non sports prediction markets this afternoon at @nextpredictio
Sports lead the volume. Where do event contracts go next?
Beyond sports, with session partner @Wedbush@HadickM (@dragonfly), @Cboe's JJ Kinahan, Cantor Fitzgerald's Matthew DeCicco and CoinFund's Einar Braathen

i've been talking to a lot of normal ppl outside of tech about personal agents & the convos have been incredibly fascinating, particularly w.r.t. to retention.
most consumer products typically have one of two types of retention, one is desire driven which is just pure dopamine (like insta, tiktok, games). they often don't even need notifications because you know there is a reward for your desire always waiting. the second is dependency driven, like emails, calendars, even credit cards & banking. most ppl have to do this, it's not something they necessarily desire (unless they are a sociopath).
the challenge with personal ai agents right now is that they occupy a weird third space where they aren't emotionally rewarding most of the time to become entertainment like the first category, & they're not reliable / indispensable enough to become pure infra. i.e. they fail, & there is a lot of friction. outside of pure research driven tasks, even one failure is often enough to not come back for the utility value prop.
which is why i think vertical agents that focus on making your life more interesting & entertaining are worth deep exploration still. & even very focused vertically integrated utility agents that work reliably will still be in demand. tons of ppl still think in jobs to be done when reaching for anything & with general purpose agents that's just not as crisp yet on what those critical jobs are.
Mesh and @Visa are partnering to make crypto and stablecoin balances spendable anywhere Visa is accepted: 175M+ merchant locations, straight from the wallet apps people already use.
No separate card. No cash-out. Nothing for merchants to change.

Incredibly big milestone for @bamazizimesh and @meshpay, expanding stablecoin payments to merchants globally direct from wallet with @Visa. Love to see them continue to crush it.
THE BLOCK: Mesh has partnered with Visa to let users spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances held in participating wallet apps at more than 175 million merchant locations worldwide.
The integration will enable in-store and online payments through a Visa credential provisioned behind the scenes, with Mesh handling transaction funding and conversion without requiring users to sell or transfer assets beforehand.
Opening night at @money2020: our CEO @bamazizimesh sat down with @alexblania, fresh off the launch of @world_id for banking and finance. When agents start paying on our behalf, proving there's a real human behind them becomes core payments infrastructure.
@ramahluwalia Different situations though, because Plaid has strict compliance standards and also is mostly doing read only. This is the Wild West and it’s acting on behalf of persons. The banking regulators will be on their side here
@ThinkingUSD All the boxes are owned already. We tried to get one through a trustee but couldn’t find one. So just be careful without verification, especially if someone tries to sell you a “seat” in one - very uncommon. Ended up buying a bunch of seats in the club section instead.
