TPLF did not act alone.

It reignited war in Tigray with backing and encouragement from the ERitrean regime.

If the world cares about peace in the Horn, the demand is simple:
Eritrea - hands off Ethiopia.

Before lecturing Ethiopia about “Its water use” maybe Mr @khaledmahmoued1 should ask himself this -

If the Nile is truly an “existential matter” for Egypt, why are scarce freshwater resources being used to keep desert golf courses green, ornamental fountains flowing, private swimming pools full, and artificial lakes shimmering inside luxury compounds and the New Administrative Capital?

Think about the contradiction.

Egypt tells the world that even a fraction of additional Nile water threatens its very survival. Yet enormous quantities of precious water are being devoted to luxury landscapes in the middle of one of the world’s most water-scarce environments.

So what exactly is the priority?

Food? Drinking water? Ordinary Egyptians? Or prestige developments and elite leisure?

Before demanding that Ethiopia leave its own water undeveloped, perhaps Egypt should answer a much simpler question:

How much more public value could Egyptians get from the water they already have if less of it were spent making the desert look like a tropical resort?

You cannot simultaneously argue that every drop is a matter of survival and treat some of those same drops as landscaping for luxury.

If the Nile is truly Egypt’s lifeline, shouldn’t its first priority be sustaining people not prestige?

እስከ 1983 ዓ/ም ድረስ ኢትዮጵያ በቀይ ባህር በኩል 1000 ኪ.ሜ የባህር በር የነበራት ሲሆን ከቀጠናውም አልፋ በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ገናናቷን ያስመሰከረች ሀገር ነበረች። ነገር ግን በ1983 ዓ.ም የወያኔ ትግሬ ባንዳ መንግሥት ለውጥ ሲያደርግ የኢትዮጵያ ባህር ኃይል በዚህ መልኩ ነበር በይፋ እንዲፈርስ የተደረገው።

ሚኒስትር ዴኤታው ለአዲስ ዘመን ጋዜጣ እንደገለጹት፤ ቀደም ሲል በመቐለ፣ አክሱም፣ ዓዲግራትና ራያ ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች ትምህርታቸውን ሲከታተሉ የቆዩት ተማሪዎች ባለው የፀጥታ ሥጋት ምክንያት ተመልሰው ለመማር እንደማይችሉ ባሳወቁት መሠረት ማመልከቻቸውን በሚኒስቴሩ ድህረ ገፅ በኩል እያስገቡ ይገኛሉ።

በእነዚህ ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች ውስጥ ታጣቂዎች መኖራቸውን የጠቀሱት ፕሮፌሰር ክንደያ፤ ይህም የተማሪዎችና የወላጆች ዋነኛ የደኅንነት ሥጋት በመሆኑና ታጣቂዎቹ ከግቢዎቹ እንዲወጡ ቢጠየቅም ባለመውጣታቸው የተማሪዎችን በሰላም የመማር መብት ለማረጋገጥ ጊዜያዊ ዝውውር መወሰኑን ገልጸዋል።

ተማሪዎቹ ቀደም ሲል በአካል እየመጡ ሲመዘገቡ የነበረ ቢሆንም፣ ቁጥራቸው በርካታ በመሆኑ አሁን ላይ ሚኒስቴር መሥሪያ ቤቱ ባዘጋጀው ድህረ ገፅ አማካይነት የቀደመ ዩኒቨርሲቲያቸውን፣ የትምህርት ዘመናቸውንና ፕሮግራማቸውን በመሙላት እያመለከቱ ይገኛሉ።

ውሳኔው ሙሉ በሙሉ የተማሪዎችን ደኅንነትና የመማር መብት ከማስከበር ውጪ ምንም ዓይነት ፖለቲካዊ ተያያዥነት እንደሌለው የተናገሩት አማካሪ ሚኒስትር ዴኤታው፤ በክልሉ አስተማማኝ የመማር ማስተማር ሁኔታ ሲፈጠር ተማሪዎቹ ወደ ቀድሞ ዩኒቨርሲቲዎቻቸው ተመልሰው ትምህርታቸውን እንደሚቀጥሉ ተናግረዋል።

የትምህርት ሚኒስትሩ ፕሮፌሰር ብርሃኑ ነጋ በትግራይ ክልል ይማሩ የነበሩ ተማሪዎች አስቻይ ሁኔታ እስኪፈጠር በሌሎች የመንግሥት ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች በጊዜያዊነት እንዲመደቡ መወሰኑን ማሳወቃቸው ይታወሳል።
