@cynthiaa_mx11 Interesting read, thank you for sharing. I always was curious about the ways parents influenced our learning, because I sound a lot like my mom sometimes. lol #eng211sp20

I thought that we were born blank slates and had to be taught languages in order to learn them, however the innate language theory suggest that we are genetically equipped from birth to learn a language. This could be because language is so important to our survival. #eng211sp20
I found it fascinating to read about the different stages of language development in children (i.e. pre-linguistic, babbling, one-word phase...) because these are important milestones and knowing more about them could help me as a future SLP. #eng211sp20
@devonoyler I agree, we must choose our words wisely while trying to communicate with others who may have a different perspective or background. This is especially true as we moved towards our goals of becoming professionals in the field of education/speech pathology. #eng211sp20
@KaidenS12 I would confuse the two terms as well, but I also feel more confident in my ability to distinguish between the two after the readings and discussions. #eng211sp20
Myth ten claims that some languages have no grammar, however I believe this to be untrue. I believe all languages must have some form of grammar in order to be understood. The text states that on the most basic level all languages distinguish between verbs and nouns. #eng211sp20
The readings on semantics were interesting, I enjoyed learning more about the meaning of words and creating a video discussion for this topic. #eng211sp20
@roe_kaitlynn Me too, it was also useful in helping me visualize the organizational pattern to use in my research paper. Now we just have to come up with a good thesis statement. #eng211sp20
My annotated bibliography changed the direction of my research paper. I am now studying Second Language Acquisition in native Spanish speakers learning English, because there is an abundance of source material. #eng211sp20
Hi everyone, I finished writing my annotated bibliography. It was challenging, yet helpful. I feel more organized and I have narrowed down my research topic. #eng211sp20
@ayemabri In order to narrow my topic I utilized the different databases available at the NSC library. I started by forming a question about linguistics and then read a few articles. Good luck, I am sure you will find a great topic.#eng211sp20
I would like to focus on primarily bilingual children who are fluent in English and Spanish in the United States. Iโm am excited to study 2nd Language Acquisition.#eng211sp20
For my research project I have chosen to study 2nd Language Acquisition in native English speakers. My goal is to learn about the benefits, challenges, and social implications involved in learning a second language.#eng211sp20
