Charles Exum is a 20-year Border Patrol veteran and firearms instructor. In October 2025, he shot Marimar Martinez — a Montessori school teacher’s assistant with no criminal record, on her way to drop off clothes at her church — five times.
DHS claimed agents were “boxed in by 10 cars” and that Martinez rammed them. Released surveillance and bodycam footage shows the opposite: no cars in front of Exum’s SUV, and Exum steering into Martinez’s car — not the other way around. His bodycam was off during the shooting itself, but audio picked him up afterward saying they hadn’t been shot at — they did the shooting.
Then came the texts. To fellow agents: “I fired 5 rounds and she had 7 holes. Put that in your book boys.” One replied “good shootin lol.” Exum’s response: “Gracias Senor.”
Four hours after the shooting — while Martinez was still in the hospital — then-Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino emailed Exum praising his “excellent service” and offering to extend his retirement.
Martinez was charged with assaulting a federal officer. The charges were dismissed with prejudice. Exum is now under criminal investigation and Martinez is pursuing a federal claim against DHS.
Shooting someone multiple times without legal justification is the kind of conduct attempted murder charges get built on for anyone else. He got an email praising his “excellent service.”
Alexander Hamilton argued that a national debt, if it is not excessive, would be a national blessing. At $40 trillion dollars and more than 120% of GDP, we are a long way past not excessive.
American has been entirely free of debt exactly once, briefly, in 1835. I’m tired of hearing that balancing the budget is radical while borrowing another trillion a year is treated as the moderate position. It’s time we get serious about our mounting debt.

This is what most Africans go through just for a penny less than a dollar, but the companies benefit more from the resources they mined. It’s pure modern-day slavery which needs to be regulated.
You cannot make this one up. This is what the police are doing to black children.. tell the teenage to pull off and go and then open fire and them in the car.
Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers’ allies have asked pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC to avoid directly advertising for him as he faces off with Democratic contender Abdul El-Sayed, fearing it could play into El-Sayed’s message.

For the life of me, I’ll never understand why this level of fury is reserved for three people who were once among his biggest supporters, but we don’t hear a word about the person/people who tried to k*ll him?
Nothing about the people who prosecuted, imprisoned, and destroyed the lives of thousands of his most loyal supporters?
Or the tech giants that deplatformed hundreds of thousands of us and destroyed businesses, livelihoods, and online communities?
Or the COVID authoritarians who forced people out of their jobs and businesses?
Or the people who tried to put him in prison with four criminal cases?
Or the people who buried him in lawsuit after lawsuit?
These people and institutions did extraordinary damage to Trump, his supporters, and the movement that put him back in the White House.
Imagine if even a fraction of this fury were directed at them.
A 21-year-old woman was 37 weeks pregnant when she was handcuffed behind her back at the Buckeye Police Department. Released video shows then-Officer Carri Carrico punch her while she was restrained. Investigators said she did not pose an immediate threat or attempt to assault Carrico at that moment.
Carrico resigned from the Buckeye Police Department and was indicted on two aggravated-assault charges. She has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
Before filing suit, the woman submitted a $5 million notice of claim. She and her minor son later filed a federal civil-rights lawsuit against Carrico and the City of Buckeye.
In the video, Carrico says she “reverted to her training.” If training produces violence against a handcuffed, pregnant woman who posed no immediate threat, then the training, supervision, and use-of-force culture must be fully examined and changed.
No pregnant, handcuffed woman should ever be subjected to violence by police.
Why community action matters: An indictment is only the beginning. Community attention can help demand a transparent, evidence-based prosecution—and reforms that prevent this from happening again.

The attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion are not abstract policy debates. They are showing up in real workplaces, affecting real people who worked twice as hard to earn a seat at the table and are now watching that seat get pulled from under them. Equal opportunity is not a favor. It is a promise this country made, and we cannot afford to let it be quietly dismantled.
Black residents in Gary, IN have been without power for 11 days. The federal government is failing to meet the immediate needs of the people. Trump hasn’t said a word. Grocery store shelves are empty, seniors are at risk, and basic needs are not being met.
We are all Gary
